[It was passing by through the quad that Sakuya noticed the redhead siting under a tree. At first he thought it was just a nap, but he couldn't help noticing how down she looked, so he decided to stop by]

Meilng. Something the matter?

[ She snaps out of her little daze, and drops the phone from her hand, the keyboard snapping into it as that happens. ] --ah!

[ Then Meiling blinks up at him, and gives him the most unconvincing smile ever. ] Oh, hi! I didn't see you walk up.

Mm, it's fine. You just seem a bit... distracted.

[He comes over and takes a seat by her]

Something on your mind?

[ She picks up her phone and fumbles with saving the draft of the email she was working on as she answers him. ] I get that a lot. [ It doesn't bother her. Meiling knows she isn't the most attentive in classes, and tries to make up for it with homework and projects.

Once that message is saved, she looks out over the courtyard. ] It feels like the break ended so fast, doesn't it?

[Marisa was only ever out at the outdoor bleachers when she felt like watching the track team practice. There was something awe-inspiring about watching Aya run. And her best friend liked the support whether she commented on it or not.

She wasn't expecting to see Meiling there. But Marisa plunked down next to her only because the tall girl looked so... miserable. And they hadn't talked since coming back to school.]

[ Meiling turned her head and smiled a little. ] Ah, hi! How are you? It's been a while.

I'm doing okay, ze. First couple days of the term sucked, but I bounce.

You look like crap, China.

[ A blink. ] I do? [ She didn't think it was that obvious. ]

[There is a small child skipping over to this person. OBLIVIOUS TO EVERYTHING, except that there was a familiar person here and maybe they wanted to play.

[ The redhead looks up at hearing her name, head turning left and right a few times. ] Huh? Who--?

Oh! [ It's the blond sister. Meiling puts on a special effort to smile. ] Hi, Flandre!

[That skipping speeds up when Meiling calls her name; she's practically bouncing by the time she gets there.]

Hi!

[Another bounce and she's now flying at Meiling's shoulders. She's dropped her parasol in the process of liftoff, though.]

Ha--! [ That's about all Meiling can get out before she just barely manages to catch the little girl.

Unfortunately, the way she's sitting, it doesn't allow her all that much in the way of balance so the launch tips her right over and onto her back on the grass. ] Oof!
