CHARACTERS: France/Marianne-Sophie LOCATION/SETTING: Home Ec room DATE & TIME: 3rd of July WARNINGS: none... yet. SUMMARY: Mme Bonnefois is getting a little baking done before the weekend.
Normally, Danni wouldn't be anywhere near a classroom outside of school hours: school was something you went to from 8 to 3, Monday through Friday, and then tried to forget about on the weekend. But this morning, she had plans. Al missed apple pies and his birthday was tomorrow, so for her very first time in the kitchen, she was going to make sure he had a great birthday.
Her face lit up when she saw who was there first. She wanted to try this on her own, but if her first batch sucked, at least Mme. Bonnefois might show her what had gone wrong? It wasn't like this was homework. "Good morning, Madame!"
"Bonjour," she replied, not yet looking up. She was preparing a workspace, still the process of cleaning it. "Can I help you?"
She was having a day of cooking, trying new recipes, making sure she was still capable of things outside the ordinary. Fancy things. Sugar towers. Absolutely pointless, beautiful foods.
Danni's eyes looked enviously over the sweets Mme. Bonnefois had already finished and somehow felt... reassured. At least one person here knew what they were do- no, Danni, you can do this too. "Not yet, but thank you! I want to try this on my own first."
She laid out her recipe book and opened up the refrigerator door, pausing in front of it to ask another question. "Oh. Yes. You can. Are we allowed to take food out of the class pantries if it's not for class? I really didn't think about that when I decided to make these little pies." She giggled nervously. "If not, I'll come up with something else, but..."
fuck I'm so sorry I thought I'd put her on Marie's sign-up sheetreallysuchaladyJuly 14 2011, 00:54:15 UTC
Danni carried on as if Marie's joke hadn't confused her. "If she tells me I can she's the most beautiful woman in the world." She grinned as if she was in on it. "I'm making my friend a birthday present! His birthday's tomorrow, and I already told him what he was getting. He's probably going to be disappointed if I don't make them, even if he doesn't say anything about it."
I don't think I did one! But no worries, she's just playing and fishing for compliments ;)fleurfataleJuly 15 2011, 17:01:44 UTC
"Well, I already knew I was, but thank you," she beamed. "Seeing as it's a birthday and you have yet to cause me any trouble, you may bake. Only today, this is not an open invitation, and I have to be out of here in three hours, so you must be finished by then."
She nodded towards the pantry and said, "Ingredients are in there. Try not to waste any. Do you need any help?"
"Thank you so much!" Danni could have hugged her right then, but as she kept having to remind herself here, French people don't do hugs. "I'll probably be here for like two hours, and I'll keep out of your way unless I really don't know what I'm doing. You won't regret this."
She delved into the refrigerator to come out five minutes later with all of her ingredients, and as she opened cabinet after cabinet for some of the rarer utensils she needed, half her attention was on the pastry already cooling. "What are you baking for? Do any of your friends have something coming up, too?" She wouldn't have tried to chat normally, but Mme. Bonnefoy reminded her of Donna Alessa, and now she had the confidence to actually talk to someone that cool like a friend.
