"Fun police" to the rescue? parlezvousnaps June 1 2011, 16:44:26 UTC
Meiling was taking a leisurely stroll, enjoying the calmness of the weather. This part of the campus was always nice and quiet, and that meant it would be ideal to take a break and maybe catch some shuteye before--

Huh, she thought, as she caught sight of the box. Did someone drop something? As she strolled closer, though, it was clear that the box was far too large to have simply lost track of. Why, you could almost fit a person in... there.

She looked down at the top of it, rapping the edge of it with her fingers. "That's weird... I wonder if this counts as littering?" It was pretty far out there, after all.

Felicia was giving up hope. Nobody was coming to rescue her and it was getting close to dinner time. She was certain monsters ate dinner ALL the time, though. So she curled up tight and closed her eyes. Maybe it would be better to go in her sleep....

Somebody knocked at the door.

There wasn't a door though. Oh god! Maybe it was the Monster's teeth biting into her box!

"PLEASE DON'T EAT ME!" she half screamed, half sobbed.

"Aah!" Meiling staggers back from the shout, even if it was muffled slightly by the cardboard. She recovers quickly, though, and crouches next to it. "Oh god, someone's in here? Hello? Can you hear me? Just hold on!"

Besides her phone, she was empty-handed and her nails were short, so she had nothing to cut the tape around the box up. "Oh, how am I going to..."

"Who is it?!"

She tried to flatten out the box, but couldn't and flailed about instead. SHe didn't like this box very much. She kicked.

"Please let me out! I don't want to starve or be eaten or suffocate!"

In Guts' experience, mysterious boxes were usually a bad thing. If it wasn't yours, you didn't touch it, because even if it didn't blow up, someone was going to see you poking around where you didn't belong. So the senior did not poke. The senior was just one year away from graduating; he didn't need a staff member catching him where he wasn't supposed to be and wreck his scholarship.

He picked up his pace again, determined to leave the thing in his dust, but nothing was that easy. It began to talk. Of course! He should have known.

He turned back around and wondered if it was bugged for someone's sick enjoyment. Stepping up to the large box, Guts squatted down and waited to see if the recording would start back up. What he hadn't expected was for it to move.

"Jesus--!" He fell back on his ass, one fist up and ready if it tried moving any closer.

"AAAAH!" she screamed. And then paused. "J-Jesus.... am I dead?" Was that God calling for his son? She gave a little sob. She was happy to be in heaven and all, maybe see Mama again, and Papa if he was here. But she also really liked being alive....

At least she hadn't died in pain. Just fear....

"Is there pasta here?" she whimpered.

Oh God, it was a hysterical woman. A hysterical, Italian woman. This was not the way he had wanted to end this day, but could he really leave this creature out here? Actually, he was pretty damn tempted! The only thing that delayed his decision was the all encompassing "What if". What if someone saw him and tied him to this mysterious box? He'd come too far to let one slip up cost him his future--well, one final slip up.

Guts inched closer on his knees, looking for a way inside, but his fingers slipped across the smooth surface of the tape and found no clear opening.

"Yer not dead! Just--gimme a sec' here." Picking a corner, Guts began scraping at the layers of tape that only budged one centimeter at a time. Actually, he may have to take his last comment back. By the time he got any head way, the girl would probably die from asphyxiation. A real shame, that.

"Oh my fucking God--There!" Finally, a big enough piece was pulled off the side of the box in one clean stroke. It gave him enough leverage to put a big hand under one flap ( ... )

"Are you sure?! You're speaking Italian and everyone speaks Italian in heaven because that's where baby Jesus is from!"

What if it was the monster, though? She'd have to be prepared to tickle it or punch it in the nose so she could run away. So, once she heard the tearing sound, she jumped up before Guts could have had a chance to move back.
