I think I must be the only girl in the world that doesn't really have cramps that bad.

You're lucky. Mine are horrid.

A couple ibuprophen and about two hours later, I'm all good.

So lucky. If I don't take something around the clock and curl up with a hot water bottle as much as I can, I'm in bad shape.

Then a contraceptive would probably help you. Just be prepared for all the Questions you'll get asked. I think the doctors try to embarrass us on purpose.

Questions? Like what?

Are you sexually active? Do you plan on being sexually active? You do realize that the pill's effectiveness can be reduced under the following conditions, right?

That stuff.

And if the answer's yes to the second question? I mean, I'm not right now, I'm still a virgin, but...things are headed in that direction. I just - should I lie about it?

No. Why would you?

They won't lecture you if you say that? Call your parents? Anything like that?

They have this doctor-patient confidentiality thing. I suppose if you parents demanded to know, they would be required to tell since you're still a minor, but they never called my father.

And I said yes to the first question.

...though they will probably do some lecturing, but its more to make you understand the potential consequences of your actions.

Well, my parents know I get cramps, so I can always explain it to them like that if they ever ask...

I just don't want them knowing I'm thinking of doing that. And, well, probably going to. I love him, I trust him, I know he won't hurt me, and I want to. Really want to.

And I guess I can deal with the lecture...how bad was it?

You know, if you're considering having sex, you really need to be able to say it.

...you're right. If I'm going to have sex, I need to just...say it. There, this is what I'm worried about: I want to do it, but I don't want my parents to know I'm having sex. And I really don't want to fall pregnant.

Then don't tell your parents. The doctors won't rat you out to them. And aside from the pill, make sure he uses a condom. Double protection is best.

Right. I'll talk to him about getting condoms beforehand. At least those you can swipe from the nurse's office, since they have them out.

...so how do you know you're 100% ready?
