[when the feed flickers on, the hand moves away from the screen to reveal something like a haphazard mess. the first thing you notice is a colouring book, child-like in quality. it's flipped to a page of the picture of an Ekans swallowing a Rattata whole -- the snake coloured purple painstakingly with a pencil crayon just a little off-screen ( Read more... )

don't humour him, but not really, excuse for cr is a go, he wants to find out, !video, he's really just a kid, don't make eye contact, ... there's a point?, pianos ftw, he makes no sense, all the cranes, !action, interesting things are fun, +goldenrod, thought for food

[the certain Raichu is currently more preoccupied with the cranes scattered across the floor than the world's shyest vulpix, seeing as he's determined her to be something that's quite a bit less than a threat. he flicks at one with the tip of his tail.

Fuji looks between Masako and Berlin, and chuckles. holding out a hand to Masako!]

[Within a few minutes, she's crept inside, lingering near the door long enough to survey the situation. She knows she's been spotted, which is a little scary! But she remembers this person and that hand--that's the person who distracts her trainer so he forgets to look at her.

(Which means he's all right in her book.)

So she creeps over bravely, presenting her nose for a pet as she tries not to steal too many peeks at the Raichu.]

[Berlin, on the other hand, is less than impressed. trainer, why aren't you paying attention to him anymore! D8 this isn't kosher in his book.

waddling over. he'll just be pushing his way between Fuji and the Vulpix, plopping himself down unceremoniously back into Fuji's lap. chuuuuu.]

[Ohsnap she made a noise so much bravery right now. But the sudden proximity of the Raichu is apparently a flustering influence, since she proceeds to try to sit prettily and wag her tail at the same time, which results rather unfortunately in a sort of awkward wriggling motion instead.

[Berlin gives her this very unimpressed look. however, she kinda seems expectant, and like his not!namesake, he likes to take everything into consideration. if she's expecting something, then that means there's something she wants, right? not that it matters to him, or anything, but watching her sit there is kind of senseless.

a nudge at his trainer. c'mon, you do something about this.

Fuji just raises an eyebrow.]

[Oh, no! This isn't working. And she's not even entirely sure what it is she'd like to be working, but this certainly isn't it.

Also she kind of feels like cringing under that look being leveled at her. Because. Awkward.

So in a last-ditch effort to save face, she scampers over to one of the boxes of cranes and carefully retrieves one between her teeth, trotting back hopefully to present it to Raichu and trainer.]

well, that's unexpected. Berlin peers over a the crane, and then at the Vulpix, face set in a scowl that indicates that he's pondering over Deep and Meaningful Thoughts on the universe. currently, he's trying to link Masako's actions to a motivation-- is she trying to showcase a crane? but he already knows what a crane is. his trainer's been doing this for ages. this doesn't make sense.

however, the practical part of him tells him that that's really not the issue here. plopping himself out of Fuji's lap, he raises his tail high as he gives the Vulpix a look, before getting on all fours and makes his way to the boxes of cranes again. there's a brief shuffle as he searches for just the right one, before going back to her with the crane between his teeth.

when he reaches the Vulpix, he gets back on his back haunches, pulling the crane out of his mouth, and presents the crane to her.]

Chu.

[the one you're holding isn't his favourite. this one is his favourite.]

[And lo, the misunderstanding takes off--because while Masako is not necessarily equipped to understand all the significant nuances of origami and love letters and romantic entanglements, she can at least appreciate that she is being given something (a gift?) by a handsome megane (like her trainer) and that is important.

For her? Really?

Positively beside herself, she relinquishes the crane she'd been holding and takes this new one with reverence, using the utmost care to keep it from getting crushed or mangled.

...Unfortunately, being a bashful Fire pokemon does come with its disadvantages, one of which being when her face heats up, it really heats up--and after a few moments, the edges of the crane start to blacken and singe as a result.]

[is that annoyance? oh, yes, that's annoyance. there's a moment where Berlin just stares at the Vulpix with his beady little eyes, as though his lack of amusement meter needed time to charge before he acts upon it. then, a spark of electricity. one tendril, two.

Fuji looks alarmed.]

[Oh, oh, oh no, no, nononono this is not as planned, this is not as planned at all and instinct promptly takes over as a result; Masako lets out a shrill squeak (dropping the slightly singed crane in the process), turns tail, and bolts from the room at top speed, fleeing for the safety of Vampa's legs or the underside of Yagyuu's couch--whichever she can get to first.]

It's unlocked!

[as he stands on a chair in the middle of his room reaching up with the lampshade in his hands, trying to figure out how to affix it back onto the lights again. though even with the height of the chair, he seems to be missing a few of the required inches for the task.

there are cranes scattered all across the floor. on the bed, there's a Raichu making petulant chuuuuu noises as he inspects a crane set on Fuji's pillow. the edges of the crane are burnt.]
