Doumeki, sometimes you do things because it's just right.
xxxHoLic drabble, because seriously, the movie was a video game on acid.
What irritated Doumeki the most was that Watanuki couldn't seem to understand that Doumeki disliked him just as much as he disliked Doumeki. If what Yuuko had told him about bonds was true--and by this point Doumeki took everything that Yuuko said as truth, unless she outright stated it was a lie afterwards--he was always going to dislike Watanuki.
But Yuuko had also told him the things Watanuki said he saw could hurt him, and that they stayed away when Doumeki was around. And Doumeki had been raised to aid people when he could. His grandfather had told him several times that there were a great deal of things living outside of yet among the world of human beings; therefore, humans needed to look out for each other.
It didn't mean he'd been taught that one man could help the whole world, and he knew there was no point to either trying to or to beating himself up for failing. But if a man was dying of blood loss right in front of him, he didn't walk past. He stopped the bleeding until someone more knowledgeable came to help.
Yuuko called it hitsuzen. His grandfather had called it responsibility.
To me, this looks like nothing more than rotten fence posts and a desolate piece of land.
