Name: Reiki Natsume

Hair Color: Deep firebrick red, streaked with dark brown.
Hair Style: Long chin length bangs framing the face while the back of her hair is tied back into a half bun with the ends spiked up.
Eye Color: Black
Height: 5’8 ½”
Weight: 146;bs.
Occupation: Scholar, Magic User

Personality: Reiki’s deep soulful eyes often speak more truth about her than her words do. Reiki is typically a bit lacking in social skills, during conversations she will typically babble on aimlessly with a obvious lack of useful content. Once she gets warmed up to people, she becomes more at ease and loses some of her shy tendencies.
Appearance: Reiki is average height with only the slightest hint of a tan, but it is her large almond eyes that draw the attention, giving her the appearance of someone wise and yet lonely. She carries herself proudly, with hair held tightly pulled back in a spiky bun. Her attire is rather ornate consisting of a black dress robe cinched snugly at the waist with a thick purple belt, bowed at the back. Reiki’s hands are covered by black gloves and her feet are protected by suede slippers.
History:
Reiki’s life was a peaceful routine for most of her years. She had been born to a scholastic family and spent her days reading tomes or training in the magical arts. When she became of age, her family declared her marriage to a neighboring noble’s son. Even then, Reiki was content with her life and easily settled into married life. The only questions her life brought her was why her husband had so readily sought her hand when she had nothing extraordinary to offer and in some part of her heart she hoped the rumors of those around her were wrong. Reiki knew that the Natsume holdings were full and bountiful, but underused as her family only took what they needed, simply enough to maintain their literary home. The idea of her husband’s union only being a way to secure his vice of power in gaining the Natsume lands after her father’s passing was outrageous. This question was pushed aside in the young bride’s mind when the first signs of tragedy struck, Reiki’s mother had died during a miscarriage. This was a staggering blow to Reiki and her father, the loss brought a sullen quietness that spread through Reiki’s father like a disease and it also meant the loss of the chance for a male heir to the Natsume land. For the next few months Reiki’s life became a slow progression of tending both to the home of her husband and she, and the home of her father. This came to an end as Reiki was the one who discovered the corpse of her father, laying slumped over in his favorite chair, seeming to have died in his sleep. Now instead of simple sadness, Reiki’s heart was filled with sorrow and she found even her husband an unmoving brick wall.
As the months passed along in a slow march for Reiki, she found herself often alone while her husband took over the care of the lands that were now his with her parent’s passing. The moments he was home, his mood was no longer the loving husband, more and more Reiki found her marriage a simple charade. Slowly the light began to fill Reiki’s mind, it was true. The Natsume land was now stripped away from Reiki and she had no power over her childhood home, it was all in the hands of her husband’s family and she meant nothing. Confronting her husband took inner strength, but enduring the beating was even more than her heart could handle. Locked inside her own heart, Reiki could not find herself to prevent the hired kidnappers to take her away into the night. She could figure the plan, her husband would have her sent away and murdered, giving him the full opportunity to have the Natsume lands without a dispute. A sense of failing strength pressed at Reiki’s soul for the days she felt herself travel in the back of the caravan, bound and gagged to travel as cargo. It was several nights later when the moonlight crept in flap of the caravan. Perhaps it was the shining light that awoke her or perhaps the strength that had been gathering in the pit of her stomach, but Reiki decided she wanted to live. Using the edge of a broken axe to break the ropes that bound her, she found herself able to escape from her captors.
It seemed like an eternity that Reiki ran, but her efforts were rewarded as she reached the gates of Scara Brae. There is where she hid herself, and from the scraps of nothing she had, she made a new life for herself. She found her place as a healer, helping those who could not afford a doctor…
A year has passed and with this passing of time, Reiki has declared to herself that now was the time to start acting in her plan to regain her home.
Skills:
Healing Hand - a weak healing technique focused through the hands to the wound or area of pain.
Wind Channel - channels the wind around to suit her needs, it is limited still and takes concentration.
Fire Summon - summons fire to be used to suit her needs, it is limited still and takes concentration.
Equipment:
First aid and herbal supplies, several lightly bound volumes, quill and parchment, dried fruit and meats (apart from typical rations), and some warm winter clothes.
Familiars:
Mica - a young gargoyle like creature who has taken to Reiki as she shares the same ideals of protecting written knowledge. She is about the size of a small housecat with charcoal colored fur along the majority of her body and midnight colored scales along her underbelly. Small bat like wings extend from her back and are the same midnight color as her scales. Mica’s gargoyle lineage is evident as if she is not active, she is nothing more than a small statue in Reiki’s pack. Her personality is much like that of a typical cat, she is lazy and enjoys nothing more than soaking up sunlight as her statue self. Other than that she is curious and enjoys to sit in Reiki’s lap to read from the same book as her companion. In the line of attack and defense, Mica is nearly useless in attacking and would much rather simply hide somewhere to hide as a statue.
