Smallville Squiddle! (part 2)

BWA! Wrote another part to the squiddle below. Not sure if that's what I want to happen, but it's interesting...

Clark felt the sting of her last comment. There was no doubt in his mind she was referring to the time he and Alisha had run off to Vegas to get married. He visibly stiffened. “Dad would be rolling in his grave if he knew.”

She bristled, all humor gone. “Leave him out of this,” she growled.

“Please Clark; don’t rile up my wife any more than she already is.”

The red and blue clad Kryptonian quickly turned, seeing the form standing in the doorway he had come though. He was silhouetted, but Clark immediately knew who it was just by looking at their head.

“Luthor!” he snarled.

Catherine smiled sweetly. “Hello dear. How was your meeting?”

“Productive. It seems your day is going just as well.”

Clark backed away a few steps, turning so he could keep an eye on both Luthors at the same time. However, they seemed to be ignoring him for the moment, rather focusing their attention on each other. He didn’t like the sound of what Lex had said about their days being “productive”. He watched as the villain moved away from the door, who responded to the scrutiny by raising a pale brow.

“I’m in no position to fight you, Clark. After all; I’m not the one you came for.”

The farmboy-turned-superhero glared at him. He considered looking him over to check for Kryptonite- surely Luthor wouldn’t have any qualms about attacking him with it, even though it would cause his sister pain as well.

With a little sigh, Lex lifted his hands with palms up and towards Clark, showing that he was carrying nothing. “Search me if you’d like.”

After holding his glare for a few more long moments, he finally turned his gaze away. He had had enough of Luthor for a lifetime; all he wanted was to get his sister and go back home. He turned back to Catherine, who was watching him with steely green eyes. His voice carried a note of authority. “Let’s go.”

She sighed heavily as she rolled her eyes, rising from her chair. “I really didn’t think you’d come, Clark. Or that you’d take it so far as to completely ignore everything I’ve said.” She removed her glasses with one hand, folding them up and placing them on her desk before stepping out from behind it. “I know you’re used to rescuing who you think needs it, but you’ll find this damsel not so willing.”

It was apparent to Clark that she wasn’t of right mind- much like when Lex had been under the influence of Desiree. So it seemed to him there was only one way he could save her. He took her wrist.

She wrenched it free, quickly shoving him away. Considering she was of the same species, it was quite powerful. He stumbled back, managing to stay on his feet. He hadn’t been expecting her to fight, but that only meant he would have to fight to get her back.

“Cat; be careful!” called Lex, his voice even sounding concerned. He always was a good actor, remembered Clark.

Approaching her again, he took hold of her wrist, this time with a tighter grip. Her reaction was almost instantaneous- she pulled him closer, then gave him a solid blow to his chest with her free hand. He went flying, her wrist being wrenched free again. He hit the wall hard- the stone crumbled a little bit, and he fell to the floor with a heavy thud. He shook the dust from his hair and rose to his feet. This was going to be harder than he thought…

He strode toward her, his expression making it clear that he wasn’t about to give up. As he neared, she was the first to raise a fist, and he caught it before it could hit him. So instead she suddenly grabbed him by the shoulder with her one hand, and tossed him towards the desk.

There was a screech of metal as it dented when the Man of Steel fell on it, sliding off and crushing the chair behind it. Rising from the wreckage, he determinedly shook off the move, again focusing his attention on his sister. If only he could find out what Luthor had done to her…

Using his x-ray vision, he scanned her head. No implants in her skull- he must be using some sort of chemical compound that made her be so disillusioned. Climbing over the ruined desk by stepping on it, he merely stepped down as he continued to walk towards the woman in the business suit. “I’m not leaving without you.”

As soon as he neared she crouched down, jumping up and flying up and away to hover a few yards overhead. “You don’t have a choice,” she called back. “You’ll see that soon.”

He flew up to meet her and she swung a fist at him again, him catching it. But rather than trying to throw him again, she swung her other fist at him. However, he was aware that she probably wouldn’t try the same trick twice, and thus caught her other fist as well in his other hand.

Aware that she was now trapped in his grip, she thought quickly and brought her feet together, pulling into a crouching position before suddenly straightening her legs. Her flat heeled shoes came in solid contact with her brother’s chest, effectively ripping him away from her and sending him sailing towards the wall. He slowed himself before reaching that point, and turned quickly to see she had turned, bracing her feet against the wall and pushing herself off, flying at him with both fists extended. This time he snatched both of them at the same time, quickly flinging her into the wall he had nearly crashed into just moments before.

Her back crashed into the stone horizontally, leaving an imprint. She spat some of her hair out of her mouth as she glared at her brother, removing herself from the wall with a quick movement.

“I don’t want to hurt you!” came Clark’s voice from across the room, where he had retreated for tactical advantage. Which was true- he wanted to avoid having to hurt her if at all possible. But judging by the way she was acting, he may have no choice…

She said nothing, and instead charged towards him. He moved towards her as well, hoping to capture her in a bear hug and escape with her in tow. However she evaded him, and he ended up grabbing only her arm. Pulling her shoulders back she squirmed out of the jacket, freeing her from his grip. Realizing that it was only an article of clothing he held, he let it fall to the floor as he turned to face her again. Perhaps if he tried to knock the wind out of her…

She was facing him when he swung his fist towards her midsection, and she twisted around, his fist instead coming in contact with her back and sending her flying. Her hands and knees left deep imprints on the wall, sending dust down to settle to the floor. By the time she had pulled herself free and turned around, Clark had already prepared for another hit to her stomach. She instinctively curled up, bringing her arms down and her knees up in a clear move to protect her abdomen. His fist struck her knees. Apparently she had figured out what he was trying to do…

She stopped her flight ability, letting herself drop to the floor and uncurling as she neared. She was a mess- her hair was wild and dusty, her shirt torn in spots. She landed solidly on the ground, bits of stone falling from her to the floor with the impact. Her brother lowered himself down at a more controlled pace, red cape billowing behind him. In the next instant, he disappeared.

Knowing what was going on, she used her own super speed to turn and face the red and blue form that had appeared behind her. However, she had begun an instant too late, as she was only mid-turn before she realized he had another fist coming at her stomach. Her eyes widened in alarm and a frightened gasp escaped her as she realized it was too late to block or avoid it.

In the next instant she was struck, sent flying back to the wall. She hit hard, offering no resistance as she fell limply to the floor, crumbling to her left and landing half-curled on the floor, her hair askew and covering her face.

At the same moment Clark felt a pain in his own abdomen, making him bring a hand to his midsection and take a step back. Save for when Kryptonite was involved, their twintuition hadn’t transferred physical pain before, nor should it have hurt so much…

Lex shot from underneath the doorway, where he had moved to avoid the falling debris from the fight above. An alarmed- almost panicked- “CATHERINE!” came from him as he covered the distance between them in mere seconds, falling to his knees beside her. His back was exposed to the other Kryptonian, but he seemed to either not notice or care. Instead he carefully gathered his fallen wife into his arms, brushing her hair out of her face as she coughed weakly.

Clark slowly regained himself, observing the scene before him. He didn’t quite understand what was going on, but he found himself unable to move to take advantage of the situation. His midsection throbbed, so much it was distracting. He could only imagine how much pain she was going through…

“I… I didn’t mean…”

Lex suddenly looked over his shoulder, his blue-gray eyes burning cold fury at his unwilling brother-in-law. “Get out,” he growled.

The male Kryptonian opened his mouth to protest- he had never meant to really hurt her, after all, and he wanted to make sure she was okay…

“Just go,” snapped the billionaire.

The throbbing beginning to fade, Clark disappeared as he blurred through the open doorway, too spooked to put up a fight. He stopped, though, once he turned a corner down the hallway, and returned his gaze to the room. Squinting his eyes a little, he focuses his vision until he could see through the walls and the skeletons of those inside. He needed to know…

Lex was holding her up now, helping her sit up and speaking to her. Catherine had a hand on her stomach where he had hit her. As far as he could tell, there was nothing broken.

He would have missed it if she hadn’t moved her hand. It wasn’t until then he noticed the area where tissue seemed to be denser than the rest. He narrowed his eyes and focused on the spot, trying to get a closer look. It was a vague, faded outline over vague, faded outline, but he could barely make out a tiny, humanoid shape…

Oh no.

A form of dread grew in the pit of his stomach as his eyes widened in shock.

It wasn’t her stomach she was protecting…!
