I don't even know how many kids this is now in the last year. All from my school. Some accidents, some not.
This hurts the most because it feels like my hometown and the place I lived my whole life isn't safe anymore. And not because of crime. It's just bad energy.
It's not just at my school, either. It's the whole area. And not just teenagers. They found a 7-year-old dead and hanging from a coat hook at his school this month.
It seems almost like it started a couple of years ago. A girl got stabbed to death by her ex in a stairwell at another high school. They found another girl's body in the woods a while after that.
Austin is a very friendly place, very personal. So hearing about death after death in rapid succession under completely random or even mysterious circumstances... And every time, it's someone closer and closer to me. Someone in Austin. Someone my age. Someone from my school. A friend of a friend. Someone close to those close to me. It's always inching closer. And one day it's going to be someone I am very close to.
