Conversations with Autism
My brother is really, very, unintentionally hilarious. For some reasons Autistics have never been able to develop phone skills. I love calling him.
W: Hello?
Me: Hi William!
W: Laura? *pause* How may I help be of assistance?
Me: Well, I wanted to see how you are doing.
W: I'm fine. How else may I help you?
Me: That's it. That's what family members do. They call each other once in a while and see how they're doing.
W: Oh. Well I'm doing good.
Me: How's work?
W. Good. I work at Goodwill.
Me: I know. How many hours do you work?
W: 3 hours a day. Soon I will become an excellent employee and work more.
Me: Well...okay.
W: Anything else?
Me: Nope.
W: Thank you. Good bye.
Me: Bye.
That's pretty much the extent of our weekly conversations. Believe it or not, he knows I love him. =)
