Here are my priorities in life according to the dalai lama quiz. Anyone who has ever met me will agree it is /dead/ on.
1. “pride.” the ability to feel satisfied with myself.
in terms of personal, moral evaluation, am i satisfied that i’m living my life the way i ought to?
i /do/ strive for that above all else. Personal Honor is very important to me.
because honestly, you have to be worth something to your/self/ first. or you will never even glimpse the potential you have to be worth something to someone else.
2. “career.” i believe that each of us has a specific place in the world. and i believe that mine is very specific.
i believe that i have been given the gifts necessary to fulfill this place, and that if i don’t, i have failed in why i was put here.
because i /have/ a purpose. and the second most important thing to me closely follows the first, that i don’t fail in my Personal Responsibility to This World.
3. “money.” when i first read this, i had a strong reaction against it. i thought no, this is a mistake, i /must/ like dogs better than birds. but now, after evaluating it, i realize it makes sense. because what does money mean for us in this world? /Freedom./ and /Independence/. and there /is/ little more important to me in this world than that. i mean, without your freedom, without your independence, what meaning can there be to anything else that might be given you?
4. “family.” i know, how cold-hearted can it sound that this one doesn’t come until fourth? especially since i include equally in it my /absolutely/ beloved friends? and when they mean /so incredibly much to me/? well, i hope you can understand, from reading the explanations above, that if i don’t meet the fist three, i don’t feel that i can have this one. my first duties to my family and friends are my duties to myself. because if i can’t be who i am, then i can’t be anything to you. even though i love you above all else. and you mean absolutely /the world/ to me. (True Family, i believe, includes your closest family and your greatest friends. everyone has family members that they don’t really care for, and i have been blessed to meet some of the truly /best/ people on the face of the planet.)
5. and finally, for me lastly, “Love.” because i believe it will come when it comes. and it /will/ come. just make sure you reach out and grab it and fight for it to keep it when it does.
