*It's early in the morning, and although everyone else is probably still asleep, Satan has always been an early riser. As a natural loner, he prefers being awake when others are not.
He settles himself on a boulder near the lake (a foreshadowing of things to come, perhaps?), gaze restlessly roving over everything-- until it settles on the lake itself.*
