... SO HEY GUYS, I DID WHAT I SAID I'D NEVER DO sob. There's a few differences between the Robert I played before and the Robert I'm playing now, though!
- He is post-series.
What this means is that his special ideals into reality power? Yeah, he doesn't have that anymore. This means he can't make those bubbles either, but it also means that his lifespan is back to what it was before he even got his powers. Trade-off! He is, however, still pretty damn powerful in that he has his sacred treasures, or "jingi." They're not as strong as they used to be since he no longer has his power to reinforce them, but he can still fight and hold his ground. guys, guys, even without that power, Robert is probably my strongest character.
He's certainly not going to advertise this fact, though. If you knew or had some idea before that he had ~special powers~, he's not going to say otherwise! Not that there's that many people left that even know, but hey. It's also likely that he'll bluff and lie about SOME POWER HE HAS to no end.
Aaaand he can't cast the Maou (the tenth jingi) anymore since Anon used his all up. But again, what other people don't know can't hurt 'em, right? Expect lots of bluffing on his part on the power end, but I'd rather lay it all out here. Basically: he used to be a god-mode. Now he is the Diet Pepsi of god-mode. It's like taking a laser away from a dude who has a stockpile of them in his shack out back.
- He remembers camp.
However, the thing with Robert is that unless someone really makes an impression on him, they ... don't stand out. At all. Most of the people that Robert would actually remember have left already! There's a select few that he'd know in passing, but otherwise, if you knew him before? It's likely that he doesn't remember you at all because he's kind of a dick and forgetful player is forgetful, and not because of camp or anything. If I forget something that you think is important? Give me a nudge!
- lol celestial.
SO. I wrote stuff up before in this journal! And people commented and it was good, but I never really did anything with that, nor did I make any big notes. And the main focus of that post was a power that he no longer has anyway instead of ... the other thing. MY POINT IS that, basically, Robert is some weird angel / heavenly ... thing. They translate it as "celestial being" in some of the fansubs, aaaaaand I believe it's also "celestial being" in the manga. I will probably use the terms "tenkaijin" and "celestial being" interchangeably, because I am a flake like that. lies and slander, I am attempting consistency.
PLEASE READ THIS POST
HERE regarding pings and whatnot, because things can get slightly touchy! It's not as big of an issue now, but all the same.
- Bitch is still kind of crazy.
I ... wavered a lot on the reapp because what I really love about Robert is the fact that he's not exactly stable, but he was a little too unstable after awhile in camp, and I couldn't deal with that at the time. Taking him from post-series means that since most of his big, problematic stuff has been resolved and he doesn't have a metric ton of crap wavering over his head, he is actually capable of maintaining some semblence of stability and even sanity!
But despite the ~* happy fuzzy ending *~ that we get in the anime and manga, I ... can't see that turning around that quickly. HE WON'T SHANK YOU RANDOMLY ANYMORE. But on the other hand, Robert isn't the nicest person in the world, and I doubt he'd ever really get back to the point he used to be at before lol canon. If a thread starts looking dicey (like he'd, you know, shank you), I will contact people ASAP. We will make this work!
- ... about those honorifics.
When I originally started playing Robert, I had him use Japanese honorifics because that was what we got in canon and it was what I heard! There were no official releases at the time. This got very confusing for me after awhile in trying to figure out who he'd refer to as what (since he's kind of weird about it in canon), and he's not even actually Japanese! I eventually wanted to just slowly phase them out and shift to using things like Mr., sir, titles, etc (which would still be confusing due to lol canon but not as bad). I didn't do this because by then, the habits were already there and I was too used to it.
I'm not being a lazy whore this time. If he referred to you before with an honorific, you may or may not get something like "Mr" or "Ms" now (i.e. Allen Walker used to be "Walker-san"; Robert will now use "Mr. Walker", Rin was "Isuzu-san;" she will probably just be Isuzu or. something. I WILL FIGURE IT OUT). NO NEED TO NOTICE IT OR ANYTHING, we all good. I just wanted to give a heads up, since it was a big thing he used, and I'm shifting it now like I did in his reapp.
- Please bear with me!
Let me be honest and say that part of my problem with Robert before was that I was really hesitant on playing this loose cannon type after awhile, and I got very scared and withdrew. I think that since then, I've gotten a bit better at handling characters like that, and there are sides of Robert that I didn't get to play with before that, well, I want to play with now! This means that I may be slow at times, and I apologize in advance for that.
