Useful resources
By far the most wonderful site I've come across on the net is the Axis Histoy Fora, reams upon reams on information about all Axis forces, maintained by interested amateurs. Some of it is a little too obscure, but it is great for uniform pictures, unit identification, awards and lots of general historical authenticity stuff. If you aren't armed with the internet version of wellingtons and pruning shears, I would attack this site using google:

eliade has a list of Fan-fiction Kinks, Tropes, and Clichés lovingly arranged in alphabetical order. The procrastination site of doom, TV Tropes also has more material than can be poked at with a Panzerschreck.
I'm aiming to put up a request meme is enough people are up to it. Filling in other people's kinks seems to me to be a great way of acquiring new fandoms.
There is an enormous stash of historical material at the NSL-Archiv, but navigation is in German. See this post for details.
