Sometimes I scare myself. But just think -- for this fic? These represent about one-fifteenth / one-twentieth the number of things I've referenced/researched. This is why pretty much everything in what I write has, like, eighty bazillion reasons for existing.
(Also, the draft's been updated, so read at your leisure. Also also, I'm getting around to answering your comments, so be ready for a slew of them!)

Uh. Holy crap?
Seriously, when I write a fic, I just toss things in and fact check a little later. Though, with your fics, I can understand why you might need to do a lot more research. You like including zombies and voodoo and witches and old cultures. S'what gives your fics that real feeling.
(Oooh. I noticed there was another part posted when I was browsing my f-list. Will check it out!)
Just call it the grad student in me? I like knowing that what I'm writing is close to authentic, that I'm approaching things with respect and as much truthfulness as possible -- and that what I make up might, in fact, be possible within the confines of whichever system of belief I'm using.
S'what gives your fics that real feeling.
It's also, if tonnes and tonnes of people are to be believed, what sends everyone running to Google things in every fic I write. Which I've yet to decide is a bad thing or a good thing, but at least people are, um, learning as they read?
Dude, I have to Google stuff when we have a conversation. You've taught me more random things through the years than most of my teachers ever managed. You are very much responsible for the gradual cleaning up of my grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary (swimmgingly ftw!!), etc. Not that I won't admit all of that still needs a lot of work. Thus, you can never leave me. Sorry, it can never happen. *Shakes head*
So, yeah. You're educating the masses. It's a very good thing. People love when something is so well-written that they have to Google. At least I do. It means you've incorporated very authentic words/phrases without over-explaining them to death. Score one for you!
You totally should. And have that be the ONLY thing on the card so it looks all mysterious, like something you might have seen in "The Ninth Gate". Then send me a copy. I'll stick it in my back pocket to give it signs of wear, then stick it somewhere noticeable and be very evasive whenever anybody asks me about it, like it's some deep, dark secret.
