STILL DYING. Rei, I can't process this, and I have a feeling the ride's only going to get wilder. Dean, Dean, what have you gotten yourself into? Your Sams in this verse are always so effortlessly hot. God, I'm lost when I read this. Haven't read Gibson, but the Eliot, I can see the Eliot! Beginnings and ends. Receipts for deceipt. Hmmm. I always loved The Dry Salvages, but I adore what you're doing here.
Hee! So much to reply to in your comment. Dean has no idea what he's gotten himself into -- and I didn't either at this point in the fic. Sam's hot to me always, so that comes through in a lot of what I write, and I think part of that, too, is Dean's PoV, even if he's never thought of Sam like that before. Gibson is a must, for real, and my inner geek is hopping up and down with joy that someone's seeing all of the Eliot, because I mainlined him when I was writing this.
Haha I've been scratching together another intro post because everyone thinks I'm Johnny Depp (SIGH), and there's an entire section about how I hit Eliot in high school and was a total goner. Between the mythgeeking, the vague stabs at linguistics, and the Classics, I was practically engineered to be that person who read The Wasteland twenty times and looked up every reference. *joins in your geeking* That Mummy AU that I'll finish some day is, after all, called A Handful of Dust. Ah, but I lovelovelove this...an insane amount. Even with the others in this series, I think I was content to let the fifth part role out and catch up, but I'm crazy for this one. *gnaws fingers*
Everyone thinks you're Johnny Depp because you are cool and hot at the same time, just like him. And I'm curious -- why is this one so different from the others?
the amulet and the charm bounce off one another, the sound normal, average, but something about the noise, under it, maybe, makes Dean swallow hard, conjures up images of motel room, the inside of the Impala, Sam with his eyes closed, the feeling of lips pressed against Dean’s temple. This section really sums up what I love so much about this chapter, what I love so much about your writing. There's such intensity and meaning behind the smallest details, and they're just so vivid and amazing...
Oh man, the ritual... was amazingly rendered. Seriously, I could feel the tension. Another absolutely fantastic thing... I really like Sam in this, he's so much more subtly unbalanced than in most of the other 5D5D fics, like, when he was explaining the "status quo" to Dean, was like, "Yeah, that totally makes sense," but then when Dean would respond, "This is fucking crazy," I was like, "Oh my god, he's right
( ... )
Thanks for the comment, darling! I love very sparse and dialogue-driven fic, but that's not how I write. I live in and for the details, and especially in this fic, every little detail comes in to play somewhere else, even if its not obvious.
Sam's very much more subtle in this fic -- he believes wholeheartedly in what he's doing, knows it seems crazy to outsiders but since he's not around outsiders that often, he doesn't care. Dean's bringing Sam a dose of reality at the same time that Sam's bringing Dean a different outlook on hunting.
And I'm glad you like the OCs! I always waffle around with them, but Théo and Pierre, they told me everything about them so quickly and openly that I didn't have time to question their inclusion.

I love how this feels so frantic but dreamy, desperate yet soft, crazy yet sane. It's all wrapped up and conflicted.
I love the bit about Dean putting the charm on his necklace. I love that they gave him Sam's shirt, I love that he slept in Sam's bed.

And yuck. I don't care what they do or who they are. I don't want anyone in my head. Sam? Is nuts.
