no one ever seems to be digging instead they're looking up towards the heavens; action

[ A tax-collector-looking dude is standing at some corner, while vines twine up around one of his legs. He peers down as it grows, looking much less worried than is probably normal, and more curious than is probably wise. ]

[We'll just say Sam is tralalalala-ing down the street when he notices the holy tax accountant, and he starts heading his way only to stop when he notices what the angel is just...letting happen.]

Uh...Cas?

[You in there, buddy?]

[ He's only mildly distracted with his own thoughts. Everyone always seeming to talk of investigation and action and yet no one executing. Himself included. ]

Hello, Sam.

[ In case he didn't notice, Castiel points to bring Sam's attention to the angel's new green er, buddy. ]

Don't touch it. It possesses-- hmm. An electric current. I'd say 450 volts.

[Sam's not really sure what's more strange: the fact that the plant has an electric current or the fact that it's hitting Cas with 450 volts and the guy's not even blinking. But he remembers what it was like to have an angel's body, so he just frowns in discontent and watches it continue on its way up the angel's leg.]

You aren't gonna do anything about it?

[ Well, Sam does have more than a modicum of common sense, and Castiel is...also Castiel. He nods once, before crouching down to take a closer look. ]

I'm more curious about where it's coming from. Give me your knife.

[He watches as he observes the plant closer, and jumps a little when he realizes he asked for something. After patting around his jacket pockets - nope, not there - he resorts to pulling out the silver knife he tucks away in the sole of his shoe. For Emergencies Only, but Sam figures it's just a plant and Cas is (mostly) trustworthy and jesushchrist, Dean would kill him if he knew Sam left the apartment without any sort of weapon.

I digress.

He hands the small blade over before crouching down to see what Castiel's on to.]

[ Castiel takes the blade gingerly, and brings it downward in a quick motion. If Sam weren't so close, he might miss the tiny sparks that spit before the leaf floats off to the ground, separated from the main stalk.

The hilt of the knife returns to Sam while Castiel picks up the leaf with his opposite hand to hold out for their scrutiny. ]

[The sparks have him jumping just a little bit - plants shouldn't do that! - and he takes the knife back without his eyes leaving the leaf.]

Do you think this has something to do with what's been going on lately? Or is this just another curse?

I'm not sure.

[ He pauses, because he should be used to not having answers, really. This is nothing new except that it's all entirely seemingly chaotic. Castiel doesn't like to think of a world without order, even if he's been living in one for a year, now. He hasn't looked over his shoulder as much since he was being hunted.

Castiel reaches down to pull the vine from the ground, concrete and dirt bursting up and out with it. The roots sparkle and crack before finally fizzing out and growing limp. He shakes it out before standing up with it. ]

There has been a pressing feeling, lately. But this gives me no suspicion of endangerment. [ Well. ] Real endangerment, anyway.

[Sam watches with slight awe (and maybe a twinge of envy?) then listens to Castiel's words carefully. He hasn't been around much lately, which is rather normal for the angels, but with everything that's been happening, Sam almost thought something had happened to him. But as he observes Cas' reactions and movements, he concludes that mayb the guy is just trying to figure this place out too. He sighs just a little bit.]

That's a good thing. At least, I think that's a good thing.

[ Prayer was more difficult to hear in the City, muffled by interference of all kinds. Lately, it had gotten even worse. Castiel had assumed that the diminishing of the ticking might help, but it only seemed to be suffering the same fate as those who still found faith and chose to express it here. ]

It might be more helpful if it was connected. We'd have something to inspect more closely.

[ His next words are abrupt, but not entirely void of empathy (though it is far less than it would have been only a few months ago). There had been more pressing things to attend to, at the time. And Sam and Dean were strong. He hadn't even thought he might have been needed -- at one time he would have remembered it was important to ask, though. ]

How are your-- death pains?
