Harbor is a horror novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, centered
around Domarӧ, a cursed/haunted island located in the Swedish
archipelago. During the settlement's early days, human sacrifices
were offered to the sea by fishermen in exchange for a good catch.
Although the practice eventually came to an end, the sea continues
to take its dues from the island, leading to an unnaturally large
amount of disappearances and drownings. The island is also haunted
by those who have drowned, some of which are take on their former
appearances and others who possess the island's current residents.
Anyone who tries to permanently leave the island is later found drowned.
