To Play The Spy

The Common Room was nearly empty, most Slytherins weren't sociable at the best of times and the terrible quidditch match of the previous week had run all of their tempers to breaking point. Regulus was, however, preoccupied with the task Remus had asked him to attempt. While he lacked the training in Legilimency to analyze Yaxley's thoughts or even dreams, Black was prepared to fulfill his promise.

He was sitting back in the same position that Yaxley had taken advantage of previously, except this time his posture was calculated to look especially vulnerable. He would never have risked it, if he didn't have a particular goal in sight.

Long legs spread slightly, he remained leaning at an angle against the cushioned surface behind him. Surely the girl would return to the Common Room soon, and then he could begin to fulfill his first promise to Lupin.

His black hair hid the slight grimace that shaped his mouth as he waited, alone but warm in the pale glow of the fire. One hand picked lightly at the inner lining of a pocket, the other lay deceptively limp upon his thigh.
