I'd forgotten I had an account with Halifax. However, having read their little leaflet I just received from them, I'm glad I never put anymore money than 1penny in there.
They are apparently in the process of Encouraging ways to help theives.
THis is an excerpt from their leaflet word for word verbatim.
Ditch the small change and use the new way to pay
We're trialling a secure and innovative way for selected customeres in a number of locations to use your Visa Debit card.
You'll be able to pay for low value items such as coffee, newspapers and train tickets by simply passing your card over a terminal at the retailer. It's safer and more convenient than carrying cash. You won't need to use a PIN or a signature for these transactions.
----------------
Sounds great right? Read it again though.
You won't need to use a PIN or a signature... Now I don't know about any of you guys, but I always thought the PIN and signature were there for the customers security. IE. No PIN/signature no working card= only someone with the right knowledge can use your card. I thought this was why everyone is giving these PIN cards out now. So that we Do have to use our PINs.
Apparently now all the theives have to have possession of is your card. Well I'm sure they'll be happy. Thankfully I don't Have a Halifax card, now will I ever be sending away for one I think.
I'm rather amused and at the same time rather horrified by this new trial they have.
Love to the f-list as always,
Rebby.
