*sigh* Folks who know me are very much aware of my dependency on string. Okay, usually I call it yarn, but I'm a string junkie. I love to make things -- even if I am not always good at finishing them. Something about the intereaction of hands and tools and fiber making fabric soothes me. I belong to a wide range of fiber-arts related online groups. If I could figure out how to work a mouse and keyboard with my toes, I could knit, crochet, whatever and still surf the web.
But stuff is hanging up my fiberish lifestyle. Namely, the thumb on my left hand is still whingeing and whineing. I'll see the doctor soon, but I have to admit the nagging pain is getting annoying. Happily, I was able to get a thumb brace to wear to hold the joints steadier. Wearing it makes it a bit less sore. I hope that whatever is wrong will sort itself out soon. I have holiday related projects to do on top of the various day to day things that I make so I can have things on hand at need.
Anyway -- the trip to Overland Park was moderately successful. Ron now has exercise clothing, so we'll be off to the gym in the near future. Penny's idea of men's big and tall is 2XL-3XL, so off we went to Casual Male where we were able to get some good buys. Including a pair of jean shorts for moi. I'll go to Penney's to spend my gift certificate another time.
Supper was steak at Outback -- peppery but very tasty. I had potatoes and we shared a Bloomin' Onion as an appetizer, but for the most part we both have been watching our carb consumption. Ron's blood sugar is much lower than it was two weeks ago. I'm so proud of his hard work.
We don't have any real big plans for the holiday weekend. I have to work and there are things here at home that need our attention. Nonetheless I want to have a bit of fun and recreation. We shall see what comes of that.
