87th Journey

Unlike my friend Rokuta's possible sentiments, I believe that sometimes you cannot avoid bloodshed. Live your life just running away from conflict won't make them disappear. It's a sad reality to resign at, but as long there's unrest, warfare is necessary to protect the greater good and its interests. For this I'm extremely grateful to those who ( Read more... )

The only reason behind us not having to worry about marriage is because our kirin more than make up for us not having a significant other. ...Though it was nice being the one chased yesterday instead of the other way around. Makes a man feel important.

And you're welcome. The En army, as always, lives to serve.

So a significant other is like a servant? That sounds like a loving relationship all right.

Besides I don't think I'll ever think Keiki in that way.

Huh.

You were being chased? By who?

Or maybe the deities just wanted to see what everyone would do.

I'm aware war is necessary sometimes. That doesn't mean I have to like it.

I'll get you a belated birthday present.

Sometimes you worry me. I can't help to understand you think it isn't. I was a Kirin for a day, remember?

I don't like war, En Taiho.

This unworthy one would say it is indeed a good reminder...

He wonders if we will be able to avoid such war again in his own world in his lifetime... but it is only a matter of time. Ideals may change over time, but in the end people don't... that just... doesn't happen...

[ooc; we'll say he managed not to kill anyone >>; but left severely hurt people who were not getting back up anytime soon in his wake...]

A reminder... of what I have to face sooner or later. Knowing what's boiling in Wa, I'll think it'd be sooner than I thought.

Ideals really change, Kenshin? I had a conversation with a girl the other day who told me what people wanted in the end was to be happy. All of us... have conflicting ideas of what happiness implies I guess.

Aa... they do. Not the most basic of ideals--but the more complicated ones that always seem to cause the most trouble, they change.

This unworthy one has seen how such ideals are able to change in just thirty years. The Japan we created after bakumatsu is entirely different from the Japan he knew as a boy. Back then, the concept of a sword that protects over a sword that kills would have been laughed at and seen as an impossibility. But now in Meiji? The idea is beginning to be embraced. Perhaps in another ten years the killing sword will be forgotten entirely ( ... )
