47th Journey

Looks like a lot of people are excited for Thanksgiving, huh? I'm guessing with all the talk of turkey around the Network, it's the American holiday. We have a Thanksgiving day in Japan, too. It's called 勤労感謝の日, the Labour Thanksgiving Day, and falls on Sunday, November 23 always, this year. The little I know of the American Thanksgiving I've learned from movies and TV shows from that country, so I think their only connection is the idea of giving thanks to each other and their origin in harvest festivals. In our case, is the modern version of Niinamesai, an ancient ritual where the Emperor makes the season's first offering of freshly harvested rice to the kami and then partakes of the rice himself.

Nowadays is big on human rights. Nothing really happens. Most workers take a day off and streets are crowded. Oh, yeah, there's a great festival in Nagano, my dad took me a couple of times when I was younger.

Anybody else has a Thanksgiving day in your country? How is it like? When is celebrated? I'm curious. I realized I know so little of my own world. Rakushun was an encyclopedia about his. What could I say to someone of the twelve kingdoms of their "Hourai"?

She gave me a good idea. Somebody has to know where can I buy a bicycle. I got no idea of how to ride one. I'll learn fast and it'll help me to get to class and work faster. I've not seen many; most people rather walk.
