She found me last night.

It took some time for... I don't know, the other Regina to be able to slip away after the debriefing. She materialized in the modern era with Dylan and the Third Energy disc. She wound up knocking Paula out and leaving her outside the building, well outside of the range of the explosion.

She and I talked for hours.

Third Energy destabilizes space-time. It's powered by tachyons, or something like that. The more you use, the more is generated, and the more it screws up the fabric of time around it. By rights, when Dylan and Paula died, it should have split off into an alternate timeline, but the Third Energy shockwaves destabilized everything. We wound up in a paradoxical era, which was trying frantically to fold in on itself.

Taking Paula out of the equation fixed it. Dylan didn't get himself killed trying to save her, so everything unfolded as it should. He'll go on to be responsible for the entire idiot mission, and everything will be set right.

She... the other Regina told me about Mom, and Dad, and the rest of our family. It looks like she'll take the blame for how badly the mission went, since Dylan's in no shape to defend himself; it's easier to pick on her. By the end of it, she'll probably be dishonorably discharged, but it's not like somebody with SORT experience is ever going to be lacking for work.

I told her about what I'd seen. That battle in Tokyo that I think might've been a dream, the lunar civil war in the fifty-second century, fighting alongside braindriven mechs in 4010, witnessing Earth joining the intergalactic alliance in 2542...

She wants to be me, and God, I want to be her.

I told her to keep the T-watch, and to come back occasionally and tell me how her life is going. To tell me how it should be for me.
