I'm gonna be at Kingsmont for a talent show, and I think I am going to sing "My Destiny" by Katharine McPhee. It's a really pretty song. Look at the lyrics:
My Destiny
I have always dreamed of this
I'll admit that there was something I missed
wondering if it is for real
every mistake every wrong turn
everytime i lost my way
led me to this
moment of bliss tonight
with you, finally I can break free
with you, it's all changing in my destiny
dream come true, its so funny now that I see
how different life turned out to be
You were always by my side
That you believed in me was enough reason why
I didn't stop, didn't give up
even if i sometimes lost hope
I did my best, and I am blessed
in life
with you, finally I can break free
with you, it's all changing in my destiny
dream come true, its so funny now that I see
how different life turned out to be yeah
can I get any higher
tell me
does it get any stronger
I owe it to you
that I made it through
I never could have done it without you
With you.... yeah.... I can break free yeah
it's all changing in my destiny
dream come true, its so funny now that I see
how different life turned out to be.
(2x)
I've realized that it's my destiny
And I also made a decision. I am currently writing a monolouge called "Tribute to Chris Roberts", which is basically an extended version of my Delilah story, and I think I am going to do that at No Shame instead of my mermaid piece. And I will also do that at Yes Shame. I will perform it at the first Yes Shame, along with "Mama Just Killed A Man". I need Osean and Phil Bergman to be in it with me. Or maybe the character Freddie can be a girl if Phil can't make it. I'll post the script up here.
(Cue music: “Bohemian Rhapsody” Queen)
(At rise, Man is on stage. Enter Mama, left.)
Mama, just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head
(Mama puts a gun against Man’s head and pulls the trigger)
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
(Man falls. Enter Freddie, left)
Mama, life had just begun
(Freddie begins “scolding” Mama)
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
(Mama drops her gun and begins crying. Freddie realizes what he’s done and tries to comfort Mama.)
Mama, ooh, Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters
(Mama looks up at Freddie, stands up, and the two of them hug. Exit Mama, left. Freddie picks up the gun and a sheet of paper)
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine, body's aching all the time
(Freddie begins “writing” on the sheet of paper)
Goodbye, ev'rybody, I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
(Freddie looks at the gun, and then holds the gun against his head, pulls the trigger, then falls.)
Mama, ooh, I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
(Enter Mama, left. She notices Freddie is dead. She picks up the note, reads it, and falls to her knees and cries)
(Lights down)
The reason why I have the lyrics to the song there is so that Osean and Phil know where to do their actions in time with the song. Osean is actually only alive for a few seconds of the song, and then I kill him (he is Man, Phil is Freddie, I am Mama). I chose the name Freddie after the late Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen. He died in 1991 of AIDS. There's a little music trivia for you. I know a lot of stuff about Queen. They started having hits in the 70's, and a lot of their songs are well-known stadium anthems around the country. After the loss of Freddie Mercury, they released a bunch of greatest hits albums, and had a hit musical, "We Will Rock You." Plus on AI 4, Constantine Maroulis performed Bohemian Rhapsody one week. During AI's Queen Week season 5, Kellie Pickler performed that song, and did a good job. I know all the songs that the top 8 performed:
1. Bucky Covington "Fat Bottomed Girls" (he got voted off)
2. Ace Young "We Will Rock You"
3. Kellie Pickler "Bohemian Rhapsody"
4. Chris Daughtry "Innuendo"
5. Katharine McPhee "Who Wants to Live Forever"
6. Elliott Yamin "Somebody to Love"
7. Taylor Hicks "Crazy Little Thing Called Love"
8. Paris Bennett "The Show Must Go On"
(in that order, by the way)
The talent show at Kingsmont is July 22, so I better start practicing now if I want to have it memorized by then! There's also a concert on July 27th......hopefully I'll get to meet a lot of good up-and-coming artists!!!!! It's gonna be a lot of fun! I'll tell you all about camp when I get the chance to.
