So... it's been a while since I've updated, so a few key points:
-I broke up with my girlfriend... we are still friends; it just wasn't working out due to personality differences. Not that we ever fought or anything.
-I am friends with Jen Dean again. This is nice, because I always felt that we had a salvagable friendship even after all of this.
-I am behind in school, like a lot... but at this point I can tell I'm going to make it. I'm going to put in some extra effort next week to get up to the curve anyway though. This is for personal satisfaction, and to get the bossman off my back.
-Yesterday was Saint Patrick's day. I drank a lot, but didn't get as drunk as last year, owing to the training program I put myself through last week (at least a pint of beer every day, preferably two pints of killians with a shot of jameson). Everyone else got much more hammered than me, and it was fun to watch their antics. Sigh. I'm growing up in the ways of alcoholism.
-I have visited New York a few times, while I was going out with Diana Lounsbury, and had some really awesome, arty existential moments. Mmmmm. New York. Catlan was reading this book called "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind," which I have since had the library here in Saratoga order for me. Reading this book will do much to support my belief that I am smarter than everyone else.
-I didn't get picked up for ELT.
-I may be getting sent to Norfolk, my very last choice... to be on the brand new George H. W. Bush. While it's newness might be cool, being sent to a surface ship rather than a sub, in Norfolk of all places... that will suck, and the name adds insult to injury. In three more years we'll have a Democratic president if America knows what's good for it, and the Enterprise will be decomissioning. In the unlikely event that I reenlist after being given a rate I didn't ask for and a type of ship I didn't ask for in a port I asked to not be in, I'm asking to be restationed on the brand new William J. Clinton.
