Shit, I haven't posted about my mini-vacation yet. I took Matt and Mochi to stay in a pimped out yurt for 2 nights near the border of Yosemite. The yurt was really cool, like a mini hotel room (kitchen, bathroom with shower, comfy bed) but with tent walls, out in the middle of the woods where there were no other lights at night, which made for some pretty rad stargazing. Especially with these pro binoculars I now own. The whole yurt village was empty except for one other set of people, also with dog. We went Monday, so everyone left from a long memorial day weekend. We talked to our neighbors, they seemed nice. One was a firefighter who constantly left his fire burning while he was away, which I found strange considering a massive portion of that forest was burned to the ground last year. And another one is burning right now. Ugh. There was a stream running through the area, which was nice to dip our feet into after our long drive. Mochis first water experience, she's terribly funny to watch and teach.
We drove right onto Yosemite Tuesday, the hottest day. But, for once, I came prepared with a gallon of water so I didn't get dehydrated! That place is fuckin pretty, though. roads and parking were a little confusing. Mochi barked at the 2 small dogs she saw. Really need to get her a shock collar I think. Other than that she was great. I was surprised how much energy she had all day considering she was lugging her backpack, it was pretty hot, and we walked/hiked like 20 miles or something. She slept pretty much the whole day after. ALSO she didn't really eat much during our stay. Which I'm not sure how to deal with. I assume she didn't have an appetite because of all the excitement.
I want to get a tent and caaamp. I will picture dump after my photos come back from getting developed. No more 1 hour photo. But shooting with a disposable is worth the wait.
