[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: Claire Bennet | The Cheerleader
SERIES: Heroes
CHRONOLOGY: Post-series.
CLASS: Hero, but she'll be more neutral than anything.
BACKGROUND:
Once upon a time, there was a cheerleader living in suburbia with a huge teddy bear collection. She was adopted but her life was perfect. Then she found out she was a freak. Her wounds healed instantly and, with the help of her BFF Zach, found out her biological family was pretty amazing as well. Her adoptive father was a total jerk and worked for a company that hunted down people like her and locked them up, but he was just like "lol working at a paper factory" to everyone. He loved his family and he loved Claire, though, and always made sure they were taken care of. Especially when a crazy serial killing psychopath named Sylar was killing people with powers and taking them for themselves. Claire is of course ignorant of this and does her normal high school stuff, going to bonfires and football games and doing the usual stuff. Like waking up in a morgue the morning after the quarterback tries to rape you and crashing his car into a building for retaliation and becoming a social pariah.
Now, Claire is a cheerleader, and what's more important than car washes to them? Homecoming. And what night was she grounded? Yep, Homecoming night. She snuck out to go to the HC game but before they could even get out of the locker room, Sylar appeared and attacked her and Jackie, her rival. Her head was sliced and Claire got away and ran into her uncle and the night ended when Peter died and reanimated when Claire came close to him. Empathy is a useful power. Long story short, she meets her biological family, her house gets blown up, she loses her best friend, she runs away, and witnesses the almost destruction of New York City. Nathan supposedly dies, Sylar is killed, and life goes on for them.
Three months later she's living in California and trying to be normal. So far, so good; until West sees her cut off her toes. Oops. She dates him, does an awful prank on a rival cheerleader (theres a pattern here...), her dad pisses her off again, she gets kidnapped, and her dad gets killed in front of her. Super fun. But it's ok because he gets better but she breaks up with West and she's back to being a single bitter cheerleader. It's hard out here for a Bennet.
Season 3 starts with her now seein her biological father get shot and nearly killed back in her old town of Odessa. But before she can rush back to save the day, guess who shows up? Sylar! Who...isn't really dead, and lost a majority of his powers. He attacks her in her house, cuts her head open, probes her brain, and trolls her like crazy on his way out the door. And he makes it impossible for her to feel pain. What a dick. Anyway, she decides her biological mother should teach her self-defense, gets in trouble with Sandra, Meredith gets kidnapped, and Claire and Sandra have to save the day. When it's revealed that the government is hunting down people with powers, Claire and Sandra decide to help people out. The first person is Alex, a swimmer who can breathe underwater. Claire gets a job at his comic book store as a cover and things go fine until weird feelings start to surface, but then shit gets real and Alex has to leave to save his life. Claire is once again alone. Sylar and Elle (psycho woman) team up and attack Claire and Noah when they are training in self-defense, which is also the same day as a strange eclipse that makes powers nullified or something. She gets shot, dies, then ... comes back when the eclipse is over or something. She tries to fight back against the company/government hunting them all down but her biological father tells her to stand down because she will fuck up her free pass. She doesn't listen and when the agents come for her, Nathan is waiting and whisks her away to Mexico where they have a drinking contest and serious bonding. They then go to Coyote Sands where they learn some terrible secrets and Sylar somehow managed to shift into Nathan and is meeting the president. Which is so not good. So the four hoof it to Washington to fight Sylar, which ends up in Nathan's death. Only Noah, Matt Parkman, and Angela cover it up and put Nathan's mind in Sylar's body to create the abomination that is Sythan. Claire of course thinks Sylar's finally dead and her life is kind of back to normal.
So she goes to college in Arlington and tries to have a normal life. She meets Annie, her roommate, and Gretchen, a girl who knows all about what happened in Odessa. Her roommate mysteriously dies/commits suicide by falling out of a window and when Claire tries to replicate it, Gretchen catches her and is all "lol sup I know your secret". They become good friends (and a little more), and Claire tries to join a sorority because she just wants a normal life. Only the girl there has a father who was killed by her father, Noah, back when he worked for the company, an she tries to kill Claire. Or at least hurt her or something. Noah and Claire eventually get her to back the fuck off, and Claire meets Samuel, a powered man who runs a carnival full of people like that. Her dad and her have more issues, Thanksgiving is awkward, and Claire decides to run away to the carnival. She has a great time but when she checks her voicemail, Peter is telling her that Nathan is dead. She attends the funeral and afterwards Peter tells her what really happens. She is furious with her father and refuses to speak with him. After that she learns of her fathers past at the carnival, does some really stupid shit, and is shot by a sniper at the carnival. Then her and Noah are trapped underground by Samuel because he's really a dick and Tracy saves them because she's awesome and things are great between them because thats what happens when you almost watch your dad die. Then she decides to out every powered person by jumping off a ferris wheel in front of news crews. Thus endeth the series.
PERSONALITY:
Claire is very stubborn. When she decides to do something, she does it with all of her heart. Whether it's cheerleading, finding out what she can do (in regards to her ability), or getting back at somebody, she will do it once she puts her mind to it. Schoolwork on the other hand... She's not a complete slacker- in fact, she's actually pretty smart for a cheerleader. Not outstandingly smart, but smart enough. Her grades are Cs/B-s but, considering that she's passing and retains a little bit of the information, she's not stressing too much about it. Recently, though, she hasn't been attending school since saving the world is more important in her eyes.
She used to be bubbly and happy, the first girl to laugh at a joke. That changed back in Texas, and almost came back in California before Noah was shot. She's not sure what to believe anymore and her perfect little average life is a thing of the past- something she'll most likely never experience again. She's still trying to adjust to everything that's going on in her life, keeping a brave face so nobody knows anything is up (but there are people who know/can see it). She's a good little soldier and will keep truckin' on, despite everything that has (and will) happen.
Claire can be dramatic. She's very animated when she's angry and can sometimes blow things completely out of proportion. She also has a tendency to be impulsive and does things without thinking them through, like with what happened with Brody and his car. She holds grudges for forever and has a lot of resentment and anger towards her father, despite her love for him. There are a lot of conflicting emotions with him, honestly.
She's naturally curious and asks questions about things that she wants to know the answer to. She's very blunt about it most of the time, but if it's something she doesn't want out in the open - like her ability - then she'll beat around the bush and make vague implications towards it. More often than not, however, she is very direct, especially in regards to her feelings on a situation. She's not afraid to call people out (even her own grandmother or father) when she doesn't agree with them and will go off on her own (if needed) to get the job done.
For some reason or another, Claire believes that she knows best. While her plans aren't the worst, they definitely aren't the brightest, and she isn't the best liar when put on the spot. She is currently going through the process of figuring out right from wrong, trying to distinguish who to believe in her life, and still going through that awkward teenage phase where nothing ever makes sense, all the while trying to deal with her ability and all the crazy shit that's happened with it.
Because of her resentment and ability to hold a grudge, she can get very intense and violent towards those she does not like. She can be a vicious little teenager, so it's not advised to get on her bad side.
POWER:
Rapid Cellular Regeneration! She, uh, 'regenerates a lot'. Her cells move at an accelerated pace in her body so her wounds heal faster than normal, her limbs can regrow, and all sorts of fun stuff happens! And, thanks to a wonderful serial killer named Sylar, she can no longer feel pain (when she has her ability).

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:
I don't know if I want to be a hero anymore. I'm not saying I want to go out and rob banks, but what's the point? We can't stop them, they keep coming back, and with everyone from different worlds and times showing up, it's dangerous. What if somebody with the powers of a god arrives? We can't do anything against that. Or somebody who can go back in time and change everything here?
[ This is one of Claire's weaker moments. She flip flops on this hero thing a lot. ]
I'm sick of watching people get hurt from trying to do the right thing, and they're the bad guy because they're a "vigilante" and an "unstable individual". Capes and masks are what make the real heroes, right? The comic books can't be wrong if the good guys always prevail.
I mean, what can an average girl like me do anyway? I can't fire a gun, my hand to hand is limited to what I've learned in cheer camp for moves, and everyone here outweighs me.
This whole city is just...I need to move. I thought it'd be nice to be around people like me, but it isn't like what I thought it would be.
[ A pause, then with obvious amusement in her voice: ] Maybe I should start a carnival.
LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:
"He-"
The loud snap of a gun firing exploded throughout her head. She didn't mean to pull the trigger so quickly. The gun dropped to the ground, an echo too loud for her ears. Blood pooled beneath the murderer, a fitting end to his reign of terror on the city. He deserved to die, she told herself. He had killed innocent children.
She stood there, clad in a black leather suit befitting a wannabe female vigilante, long hair pulled back into a ponytail. The result of two years in the city without a haircut. The heels of her boots were mute as she strode over to the dying man. Her phone was out in her hand automatically and she said one word into it, emotionless: "Done."
Since when had she become what she had told herself she wouldn't be, a mercenary for some company hunting down dangerous criminals? This was what she had hated her father for. Her knees buckled under her and bile rose in her throat. She disgusted herself. She was no better than he was, this dying man wanted by her current employer. But she stood again anyway, spitting out the bile in her mouth and picking up her gun. It felt too large for her hands.
She listened to the man choking on the ground, his face half-drowning in his own blood. She had shot him in the cheek; she had aimed for his chest. She really needed to work on her aim. Claire - or Sandra, as she was known to her employer - leaned against the wall and looked up to the night sky. Her employer would come by in his helicopter at any moment to extract the body and deliver it to whoever he worked for. Then she would be off on her own and go back to her apartment, shower, and go to sleep. Rinse, lather, repeat.
How her father had kept this lifestyle up for so long was a mystery to her.
FINAL NOTES:
She's coming in with her girlfriends Nissan Cube because why the heck not.
