Character Info
Character Name: Coach
Character’s Age: 44
Fandom: Left 4 Dead series
Timeline: During Virgil's boat ride on the way to New Orleans.
Appearance: Coach is an African American man in a school uniform. He's on the heavy side, but he's not all flab. He's got a lot of muscle to him too, as he used to be a defensive lineman. He's bald, brown eyes, and has a salt-and-pepper colored beard. He wears a dirty purple school uniform, covered in dirt and blood and sweat now, tan, muddy slacks, and black tennis shoes.\

History: Coach was a defensive lineman for college ball until a knee injury ended his career. After barely salvaging his Physical Education degree he became a health teacher as well as a defensive coordinator for the freshman football team at the local highschool in Savannah, Georgia--his hometown. When the infection his his town, he found himself banding together with a mechanic, a conman, and a news producer to survive.

Green Flu, a rabies-like pathogen, has hit the East Coast of the United States. It's better known as the infection, which is better known as a "goddamn zombie apocalypse and shit". You get the picture. Civil Emergency and Defense Agency (CEDA), initially tried to contain infected individuals in quarantined buildings. As cities and towns started to become more and more overrun with infected/zombies, mass evacuations were attempted. Generally, they were unsuccessful as most CEDA agents have either abandoned ship or are infected themselves, leaving any survivors to fend for themselves against near-overwhelming amounts of zombies. The military has currently stepped in, clearing out infected areas and providing evacuation for survivors, presuming survivors live to find them.

The game starts in Savannah, where the four survivors fight their way to a local mall where evacuation is presumed to be. It's overrun, and they get a racecar (used for a car show that was supposed to be at the mall) and bust out. They make their way to New Orleans, where presumably the last safe zone in the eastern seaboard is. They have a lot of stops and bumps in the road (going through a carnival, a swamp, a flooded town, and so on...) until they eventually get a boat (driven by another fellow survivor) to New Orleans. New Orleans is overrun too. They make their way through the city and find that the military has taken over, killing infected and non-infected (presumed to be Carriers, those that are immune but can spread the virus). They eventually fight their way through a bridge to get to a military helicopter that has offered them help. The game ends with the survivors being piloted out of a bombed-out New Orleans. Their fate is indefinate though, as the military is unsure if they are Carriers.

Personality: The best world to define Coach is "Dad". He is essentially the leader of the foursome in the game. He's a big, loud-and-proud man with a big heart and a healthy appetite. He is the oldest, 44, and the voice of reason among the group.

He's generally jovial, friendly, and keeps a positive attitude, but he's not afraid to speak his mind and tell you to cut that shit out. For example, the conman of the group, Nick, is the most bitter and jerkassish character in the group. The only other character he will back down to is Coach, who will not hesitate to step in and keep his attitude in line. His experience as a coach makes him demand things of the characters. Mostly in a positive way, such as loudly encouraging characters to get back on their feet.

While the obvious leader of the group, he also comes across as a father figure. He likes to talk to and tease the others. He gives his own special coach-brand of encouragement, telling them to put it all out there and reassuring he's not going to leave anyone behind, especially those that are hurt. He is very protective of the other survivors, even Nick. If Rochelle, the TV producer, dies in battle, he'll comments on how he should have done more to protect her.

Powers/Abilities: N/A. Coach is a pretty normal guy. A big, zombie-apocalypse surviving sort of guy, but still a normal guy. He was a football player, so other than weilding guns he knows how to physically throw his weight around. He punches zombies in the face, dude. He's a boss.

Limitations: Again, normal guy with normal human abilities and weaknesses. He hates stairs, though. It's his one true weakness. Or was that Bill...
