Having been kept within Hyrule Castle by Zant for so long has made Zelda a more quiet and controlled young woman. Having to be sure that she's not disturbing her jailor or attracting any attention, Zela is a quiet, composed, practiced young woman. She has a good head on her shoulders and is capable of great wisdom. Having been locked inside the tower in the castle, she's watched Zant's tyranny over her beloved kingdom. She may have cried at first and been shaken to the core, but now Zelda keeps back the most of her emotions in the face of danger. She's stern and to the point.

An example is when Link arrived in Hyrule's castle and comes upon the lovely Zelda. Instead of expressing her joy and hopes and thrusting them toward Link, Zelda tries to usher Link on his way so that he can stop Zant and eventually Ganondorf. Her face is a stoic mask and it remains so in the eyes of those that judge her by disposition. She cannot show fear or hope or dreams in the persence of her captors, and thus, is she forced to remain complacent within her tower. As Zelda is smart, she's also adventurous and somewhat reckless. While she believes that staying within the castle as a prisoner is in the best interest of her kingdom, it does not stop her from stealing away through the castle within her cloak, attempting to be another shadow on the wall.

Her girlish, child-like manner comes from her life within the castle and her issue to put work before her own interests. Before Zant came, Zelda was to be crowned the soloing Queen of Hyrule. She was well aware of the life ahead of her, and the trials that would come with inheriting the throne. During the game she seems to reflect grimly on her past and supposed future. Near the end of the game she attempts to lift her spirits. She makes tiny smiles and seems to be holding back tiny laughs. She also seems to find mild tinges of annoyance with Midna when the moments becomes tense.
