Interesting start to the story. I like how you flip back and forth between the OCs and the boys’ POVs, and that opening bit, with the girl and her mother getting tossed overboard, really grabbed my interest. So, so sad.

Favorite lines:

a man who had filmy eyes the color of runny cement.

Good description.

Now he’s merely expected to be there at the never-ending series of social events and to add a handful of words to the lively conversations - a sprinkle of pepper to Marcos’s infamous bouillabaisse of intrigues and political gossip.

Great comparison.
