Festival Action log thing?

Oct 11, 2009 23:02

[It was true that Princesses didn't do well in blending in crowds, even when they lived as a commoner for a long time. It had been a short period of time since her treatment of Ser Snake, but still, she did not bring her hair back to its normal style of side-braids and long hair flowing down...rather, she kept it down and loose, flowing past her ( Read more... )

[The man in brown robes strides through the crowd, for all intents and purposes just another weary traveler enjoying the festivities. As he spies Ovelia, he advances towards her and bends on one knee, his face concealed by his hood.]

"Good lady, I've a request to make of you. Innocent lives may hang in the balance. If you care for them, follow me."

[He stands, and walks into a nearby dark alley.]

...!

*[Ovelia stares at him a moment, as if considering what to do. After a few minutes, she not so gracefully stuffs the bun in her mouth, takes a drink of the bottle of juice she had by her side, disposes of the waste, and follows him into said dark alley, in pure Ovelia fashion.*]

[As Ovelia enters the alley, the man in the hood greets her and removes his hood...

...to reveal a scarred thug, grinning.]

"Moi thanks, 'milady'. Ahahahaha! Rum luck, eh boys?"

[Similar thugs surround Ovelia from behind, blocking her only exit from the alley.]

"Such a foine wee lass like yew doesn't belong out 'ere in the boondocks, y'know. What say we teach 'er a lesson, mmm? A minor fine of, oh, lessee.

How about all yer valuables, and... whatever else yer willing to do to keep yer life, hehehe..."

[Ovelia was in fact afraid. Quite afraid, as she always was in such a situation. And cursing the fact that she left her bow in the caravan. All she had was her sword, but she wasn't sure she could defend herself...at least well enough to run away.

But she at least tried to play the hero, giving him a well-practiced hard stare.]

"You will find this 'wee lass' not the usual victim to such tomfoolery, I am afraid."

[And she pulls out her sword.]

"AHAHAHA! Look at that, lads! The moppet fancies 'erself a warrior! What a lark!"

[Two of the thugs take Ovelia from behind, holding her arms, while the leader steps forward and strokes her face with one greasy hand.]

"Quite a fine fly we've snared today, though one sorely lackin' in brains. Hahaha... I'd wager you'll not be so trusting of strangers after today, eh girl? Such a tender face... I'll enjoy this, hehehehaha..."

[And so Ovelia, panicking, sends a hard kick out to the other man's knees, crying out as she thrashes, screams, and yells as loud as she can, in an attempt to get free. This Princess doesn't keep quiet. Sorry, guys.]

"You will not touch me!"

[And so she breaks free of the two thugs' grip, grabbing her sword and running, as fast as she can, hoping to find a way out...

Hello, Dead End. Meet Ovelia.

Ovelia, you are FUCKED.]

[Cursing, the thugs advance towards her. The intention in their eyes is clear...

And at that moment, what appears to be a wave of crystals crashes down on them, freezing them in place.

A cloaked man leaps down from a rooftop behind Ovelia, swooping her up in a classic bridal carry as he runs. Before Ovelia can piece together what is happening, the two are standing outside the alley, once more in the daylight of festival crowd.]

[Ovelia sits very dazed in his arms; surprised, but also berating herself. She should have carried her bow with her. She was a doctor as well as an archer...she needed to keep her bow with her in case of situations like these!

And so she looks up...only to gasp. And feel even more embarrassed. And happy, but besides the point.]

I-It's you!

[Delita smiles warmly down at her.]

I must confess, I had not expected our first meeting in person to begin like this. I am sorry I could not be there sooner, milady.

[...And Ovelia's heart melts at such a smile. He was HERE! His warmth, his voice, his smell...everything she had daydreamed of since they first spoke was HERE! In front of her!

But...]

I...I am so sorry! Because of me, you put yourself in danger! I shouldst...I shouldst have been able to take better care of myself, so that you would not have...!

Worry not for me. Rabble such as they pose no great threat; I'd wager you could have taken them yourself, had I not intervened to save them! 'tis fortunate I arrived in time to spare them your fury.

[Ovelia laughs; she thinks he's being silly, to lighten the mood...and she does truly feel better.]

Of course. One must fear a woman's wrath; as many say it is but a feeble thing, it is in fact a great wrecking force, capable of levelling entire nations in its wake.

Then perhaps I had best set you down for, lest Eisengoku suffer the consequences!

[He chuckles, gently setting her on her feet as he does so.]

In truth, I should apologize. I had been watching you from afar before those blackguards made their move. I had hoped to speak to you, but... I knew not what to say.

[Ovelia blinks at him a moment, though her cheeks turn a lovely shade of pink.]

You...knew not what to say to me? I do not understand why that would be.

Forgive me; I meant no offense. 'tis only... We have spoken over the journals, but this is the first we've met in person. I feared I would not make a good first impression.

I am not offended, milord, worry not. I...understand. I wouldst have been the same way if I had seen you without you having noticed me.

I am...

Certain I would have appeared quite silly if I had attempted to speak to you first.
