Chapter 11:

A lot of research went into this chapter. When I was thinking about Cas's date for Dean, it was an obvious choice that it would be centered around good food. It's the quickest way to Dean's heart after all...well, mine too, if I'm honest. XD

A lot of this chapter ended up being drawn from my own memories. I took a walking tour of Chinatown as a kid and remember it vividly. This chapter ended up being strangely nostalgic to write as a result, as a number of the places I remembered from back then have since closed. It was sad to find this out, but I still had a lot of fun writing this chapter...it almost felt like I was reliving it as I tagged along on Cas and Dean's Chinatown Date. ^_^





I especially enjoyed writing in all of Dean's reactions to the places Cas brings him. I mean...who WOULDN'T go nuts in a place like this!!??

Unfortunately Aji Ichiban is closed (it's unclear if this is temporary due to COVID or permanent). New Beef King closed a number of years ago, which is a bummer because it was my favorite stop on the tour. Thankfully there's a bunch other jerky places still in Chinatown, but from what I've gathered none are as good. (Or as hilariously named LOL)



The ice cream place is still there though, so THAT'S a relief!! If any of y'all ever visit the Big Apple, this place comes highly recommended!





I was super amused by the way they structure their menu. XD

The other big part of this chapter (obviously) was the sex scene. I agonized over the nuances of their relationship here...and I really hope I hit the mark. I haven't given a lot of backstory so far about what really happened between Cas and Balthazar, so I had to work around that as I was writing in their conversation about Cas's insecurities. I hope his sudden desire to jump into bed with Dean ends up making sense.

Next week is a double chapter and the big WINCHESTER MONSTER MASH. I'm so excited~ :D
