I'm going to write a list of icons I love, and why I love them, because I feel as though that is the only incoherent way to do this.
#1 - is just, wow. The lighting is absolutely stunning, and it works so incredibly with the bold, vibrant colouring you've used. I really, really love the blocking as well, because it draws some extra colour and contrast into the icon and makes it work perfectly, and the subtle little blocking layer at the bottom is just perfection.
#5 - YES. I was hoping these icons would appear. HOW DID YOU COLOUR IT SO PERFECTLY? it's all dark and muted but not, with a real vintage twist. Holy crap I am in love, it's such so stunning and so gorgeous. Favourite icon, tbh, its freaking gorgeous.
#13/#14 - wow. Again, the colouring is just blowing me away in both of these, there is this matte thing happening that is absolutely divine, and there is this mutedness that I can't help but appreciate, because it's also vibrant at the same time and it works so flawlessly together. And the composition of #14 with the space and the crops is stunning.
(I have a lot of love for the JOAN icons, but mainly because they are Joan, so I am just going to say YES, amazing, LIGHTING and move on).
#28 was such a flawless remake bb. SO FLAWLESS. Let's talk about composition, because how do you do it? The background texture, and then the foreground on the background with the subtle lighting and gorgeous shapes and beautiful use of faded text. And then the contrast between the colour there and the b&w of the image? ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Then there is that sliver at the bottom of the image that you are rocking so hard these days, and it just works so freaking well to help everything be framed perfectly.
#30 - I will never need another Donna icon in my life now that this exists. The colours bb, the colours. So rich and stunning and gorgeous, with the absolutely flawless lighting and subtle texture work in the background. WOW. Seriously. I will never be over this combination of colours, it's blowing my mind!
(Everything is Community and nothing hurts. THESE ARE SO GORGEOUS. THE SPACE AND THE TEXT AND THE COLOURS. #36 and #39 in particular are amazing. But Community should always be on your 'to-icon' list because it brings out the absolute best in everything you choose to do!)
#55 is flawless lovely. The space and the shades and the colouring and the lighting is just a magical thing to behold.
#59 - dear lord Samantha, how did this happen? It's absolutely gorgeous, with the deep, dark space and the stunning colouring. It's rich and kind of painted looking, and the lighting is just perfectly done to create such a strong focus.
And I really, really love all the Anime icons at the bottom. They are all so fun and vibrant, with so many fun little things happening that I wish I could appreciate them more based on fandom! #70 is probably my favourite though, I MEAN COME ON! Gorgeous, gorgeous crop, such a fun use of colour (the orange & pink tones are so amazing together) and it's just such a freaking adorable icon that I can't even.
This is such a wonderful, wonderful post bb. I am super in love with it all, seriously - your colours and fun compositions and such have just skyrocketed this year, and I am SO EXCITED to see what 2014 brings!
