Theme explanations:
Stock: We had to use stock images in our icons. This is the image I used. Can you see how I used it? Haha!
Law of Variations: We weren't allowed to use adjustment layers of any sort. We were allowed to use filters and variations as well as textures.
Texture wannabes: We had to use our icons (and each other's icons) as textures instead of actual textures. This was super fun, honestly. Everyone should try it!
Style Swap: We had to try on each other's style for size. I went for Val's classic blend of sharpness and blurriness, textures for coloring, and mostly I kind of failed at emulating her. She's hard to pin down because there's something so inherently her about her icons. I can't even begin to explain. THEY HAVE PRESENCE. YOU CAN'T COPY THAT.
(Also Val is the genius behind that gorgeous table. SHE'S FANTASTIC.)
