Tiggy, this was marvelous! Concise yet still thorough and full of passion. Dude, the love... the love! *g* Thank you so much for putting this together. I need to pick up the manga now. *shakes fist at you*

My Legato essay will be mostly animeverse since 1: I haven't been able to but the manga yet, 2: Legato is still a VERY developing story in the untranslated Japanese mangaverse (there, he's back on his feet somehow, among other things) and 3:
^sigh^ I'm sorry, but what I'm turning in won't be half as good as this.
Duh, I forgot my third reason. It's that Legato doesn't get as much screen time in either anime or manga, and there's so much that's unknown in canon. Is it all right to mention commonly accepted fanon in an essay?
Hmmm...for fanon, I'd put a sub-section just for that, so people know what really is canon and what isn't without getting confused, but they can still get a feel for the overall fannish interpretation.

Yeah, I saw you'd volunteered yourself for that essay and didn't envy you at all. He does come over as kind of one-dimensional.
I'm with jaina on the fanon. It might be fun to put it in, as long as you make it clear what's speculation.
