I seriously enjoyed reading this. It's fab! I love what happens to the group in the Kami Sama arc-- with every moment he's gone, it becomes more and more clear what his function is: to ease the wrinkles between Sanzo's eyebrows, to be a friend to Goku and to just be there for Hakkai.

You know, I'd never picked up on the thing about the condoms before-- I'd always just seen it as his messiness. You've got to love Minekura.

This post makes me realise I need a sexy Gojyo icon so bad. I will have to use the dancing chibi!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I adore the kami-sama arc, it's got everything I love about Saiyuki in it, and in spades! I've read it so often the manga got all dog-eared. Considering how clean and unfussy her art is, Minekura does amazing things with details and subtext. One of the many things I love about her!

Thank you! I'm pleased you found it enjoyable and useful. I do think it's easy to take Saiyuki at face value and miss the subtext and the depth of the relationships between the characters; I suppose it's good because it means the show appeals to a wide audience, but it can lead to some frustrating fanfic, I agree!

OMGIloveyou. *end fangirl squee* Seriously, though. That is amazingly well written and oh so freaking true. I rarely read essays...they usually bore me, but your's kept me stuck. I *had* to read it. It's a look into Gojyo, of course, so I had to at least start to read it. But your writing, and your ideas...they kept me reading. :-P I'm oh so grateful to you for writing this and I have shared it with my friends.
