Fantastic essay, Majinkarp. I often find myself angry with Tsuzuki, maybe it's because I relate so much to him in a way. I tend to take things very personal and past mistakes haunt me even now (to a lesser degree, of course). So maybe my anger has to do with his inability to just move on. It unnerves and frustrates me because it mirrors my own struggle. It's also the reason why I love him so much. So much love and compassion! He can forgive everyone but himself. *g*

Oh, very, very good essay. You pinned Tsuzuki down perfectly. I can't really comment on anything in the essay, because you basically said everything, but one thing I find interesting about Tsuzuki is how different he is from Hisoka. Because of the fact that Tsuzuki considers himself a demon, and because he's (perhaps) done some immoral things - although I doubt that whatever happened 'That Night' was his fault, honestly - he believes that he deserves every bad thing that happens to him. Hisoka, on the other hand, never seems to feel that way; his parents may have locked him up, but his anger and outrage over it suggest that he feels he didn't deserve it. He also doesn't seem to feel (as many rape victims do, unfortunately) that he deserved what Muraki did to him. On the other hand, Hisoka's respect for himself has caused him to become withdrawn, to lose a little of his compassion; so I think it's great that you have these two individuals who have gone through the same experiences but dealt with them differently. Hopefully they rub off ( ... )

Oh, very nice essay! I really liked how much detail you put into this aspect of him. It was very interesting to read, and I think you made a lot of good points. ^^

Great job!

aww. I'm one of those fans who has their protective impulses drawn out by this character, and just... aww. sniffle.

That was not useful at all, so: From the start I was interested in Tsuzuki's character starting out so pointlessly daffy and turning out to be underpinned with all this grief - this is a nice portrait of the latter. Thanks.
