So, I spent the whole weekend in Someren (South-East of Holland), rehearsing with the choir and orchestr for our June performances. Very tiring, very helpful and a lot of fun too.
We didn't get much sleep, and I could barely sing the last day, but I think it's ging to be a good performance in three weeks time. We're performing the following pieces:
Tutti (choir & orchestra together):
Jeppe Moulijn - Song of Twilight (piece commissioned for our choir & orchestra)
Federico Mompou - Los improperios (Dutch premiere for this piece)
Orchestral works:
Aaron Copland - Appalachian Spring
Francis Poulenc - Les biches
Choral works:
Pjotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - Liturgical songs
The concert theme is death...how uplifting!
Anyway, we rehearsed for hours and hours and hours, and we got to know each other a little better so tht was good. I still dont know everyone, even though I've been a member of the choir for four years...We're a student's choir and orchestra, so people come and go, and we're quite big (110 choir, 60 orchestra when we are all participating) so there's a lot of people I only know by face...especially in the orchestra. Anyway, there was a nice party, and we danced, yay! I had the giggles a lot with my roommates, and the walls were very thin so we probably annoyed the hell out of other people...
okay, I have to squee now. How adorable were they? really, form the sweaty to the asscheeks comment, through topher's "I'm not much of a licker" -- seriously I was deep in the gutter -- it was amazing. I don't care that it seemed a little but of an anti-climax after last weeks tear-jerker...I lvoe the episode, and I loved the kiss.....I see Hannah's vow of chastity blowing straight ot the window...thank goodness...I am so not a supporter of the abstinence only theory (though everyone should do what they think is best in their own lives, nothing beats sex-education as a standard....anyway, oy with the politics already)
allrighty then, that's it :)
bye babies!
