Brendon sighed as he walked through the school corridors, after Ryan had left his weekend had been the worse he'd had in a while. His Father had been in a bad mood and when Brendon accidentally got in his way his father had thrown him down the stairs without so much as a sorry. That was why he'd spent the whole weekend sleeping in the barn and trying to fix his injuries with his make shift first aid kit.
His mother had stayed firmly by his father's side, when she had seen her son in a crumpled heap at the foot of the stairs trying to come to terms with what had just happened to him she had simply just stepped over him and went to check if his father was ok. That was when Brendon had taken his stuff and went into the barn with only the clothes he was wearing and a blanket to keep his warm.
Brendon had woke up late for school and had to run the mile from his house to school because in no way shape or form was he going to his parents to ask for a ride. He arrived 15 minutes after the bell and when his teacher had quizzed him on his tardiness he'd blamed it on his car breaking down but he knew the teacher didn't believe him.
The whole of his lessons were spent daydreaming or trying to ignore the throbbing headache that he'd had ever since his "accidental" fall down the stairs. He didn't have any asprin and if he went to the school nurse she would have to contact his parents who he wouldn't want to accept anything from at this present moment in time.
When the bell rang students began pouring out of everywhere and anywhere, Brendon waited until the corridors were clear before venturing out his ribs were still sore and he didn't want anyone to bump into him. He made it all the way to the tree and was on the verge of a mental victory dance when Ryan came running up to him and slammed against him ribs in what was an attempt at a hug.
Brendon hissed in pain already feeling the tears prick in his eyes he felt Ryan pull back then he heard him gasp even adding in the all so cliche hand slapped across the mouth. Jon and Spencer came over after hearing Ryan's drama queen gasp and in turn they gasped too, Brendon lowered his head trying to hide the tears that he'd been trying to hold in.
He felt Ryan's long finger hook his chin and soon his dark chocolate eyes met Ryan's warm honey ones, there was a slight pause before their lips locked and Brendon just about melted inside. He heard Jon and Spencer awwww next to them and that oh so familiar blush creep up his cheeks as the tears rolled down.
The four boys sat under the tree, Brendon was curled up into Ryan's side and Jon had his head in Spencers lap they sat not speaking until Ryan found to question Brendon about his injuries. Brendon hadn't had a mirror so he hadn't seen his black eye, bruised cheek and cut under his lip, Ryan sure as hell had and he wasn't happy.
"What happened baby?"
"I fell down the stairs."
"Fell?"
"Yep. Clumsy me."
"I doubt that."
"Don't."
"Brendon look at you."
"If you've got a problem then don't look."
"Bren your gorgeous. Don't you dare thing otherwise."
"He didn't mean it Ry."
"Who?"
"My dad."
"He did this to you?"
Ryan took Brendon's silence as a yes and he pulled him closer trying to be as gentle as he could on the young boys ribs which were tainted a dark purple colour with the slighest tinge of yellow. Brendon snuggled further into Ryan and tried hard to forget about later when he'd have to go home and sleep in the drafty barn with Maisie and the new calf Strawbs.
A/N: Brendon has a girlfriend + Ryan's off with Ashlee, Pete and his bowtie = No Ryden?
