the howls and the moons 'round my eyes
I haven't done a proper job search since the second half of 2007 (my current position at my school was basically the result of an informal internal application, since they knew me from a prior internship). I'm finding the process much less nerve-wracking this time around, possibly because I'm trying for the same kinds of jobs as before (mostly academic admin support) with considerably more professional experience, and the stress of grad school (mostly) behind me.
Or possibly it's foolish optimism. We'll see how this goes, especially as I find myself fixating on one or two positions in particular (never a good plan when just seeking a tolerable day job). I'm excited to move back home-ish, though ... reading all these college websites is totally making me nostalgic.
Also, I just watched the new Teen Wolf episode! No epic, detailed response post to make, but oh man. Some of that was truly ridiculous (Scott, why can't you use your senses, oh my god, werewolf fail)! Okay, most of it. But I missed this cast, and when Derek first showed up onscreen I was like HI BABY HIIIII (oh god, what. Send help). Also, WAY TO BE MORE PERSONABLE, dude. Seriously, he was practically fluffy compared to before!
Unsurprisingly, I suddenly want tons more Allison/Lydia. I'm not entirely sure about Allison's character trajectory, but I'm enjoying the way they're attempting to soldier through together. And Lydia, as usual, is FLAWLESS.
I suspect that Deucalion's blindness is going to wind up being really, really faily, and in general I am unimpressed with the Alpha Pack thus far. Also very disappointed that the unnamed girl was maybe killed at the end of the episode, because I found her much more interesting than her assailants. (Also more ladies and characters of color, pls?) But I'm excited for the promised, platonic Lydia & Stiles team-ups. (There was not enough Stiles in this episode, although that bit with Papa Stilinski pulling him bodily away from his research via roll-y chair was priceless).
Anyway, yes. My completely ridiculous supernatural high school show is back! \o/ I'm all set for a lot of weirdo summer fun.
Okay, I have applied to ALL THE JOBS, time to go make dinner, comics, and possibly watch Warehouse 13. (Ugh, H.G.! <3)
