[It's been some time since Frederic used the journal, let alone had something to talk about in it. With everything's that happened, the composer took solitude for most of the time in the little forest area behind community building seven to sit with the flowers from his world. Yet after talking with his friend, he's begun to realize that sitting in ( Read more... )

...it's good of you to look after those flowers for her.

Most everyone I know seems to have caught a sudden case of green thumb. Perhaps I should try it, if I ever finish this blasted boat.

She was like a sister to me, I couldn't keep these flowers to myself anymore.

And you are working on a boat? [He also pauses for a moment.] Also I...wish to apologize about what I said to you some time ago along with avoiding Helios.

If the people at the flower shop are anything like they were during the experiment, and I have reason to believe that they are, they'll make certain to look after them. And see to it that they reach every single corner of the village in the bargain.

We are working on a boat, yes. Hadn't I mentioned it to you before? I'd kept telling myself to. Yes, that's what that mess of wood and rope outside the back window is supposed to be. Or will be.

[There's a slight sigh of relief from Giles' end of the connection.] Th-Thank you.

...god, that talk feels like a lifetime ago. Just one thing after another, wasn't it?

You don't have to apologize to me for being upset with Helios, although he did mention that the both of you had reached some sort of accord and I'm very glad to hear that. But as for before...

...I know I wasn't very understanding, and I know I pushed much further than was fair to you. For that, I want to apologize in my turn.

I forgive you and...about what we discussed, death has never been that easy for me. Always being told you're going to die or gossiped about how you're a walking corpse, it's...not something I want to hear anymore from anyone. [An audible sigh.] When you said you'll just go home and be dead, I...thought of myself during the time of tuberculosis inflicted me. That is why I became a little cross with you and left, because death is not a game nor should it be something you always think about.

You had every reason to be cross at me for what I said. It was impossibly insensitive to you, and I am sorry.

...but it's an idea that I'm still trying to cope with. And, by and large, I've done so by ignoring it whenever I can.

As you've probably noticed, that doesn't always work so well.

You are a good friend to me Giles, so I forgive you. I also understand your feelings, no longer being among the dead or in my case, almost in the grave. [He sighs.] It seems we are alike in more ways than I thought.

I would say we are, yes.

It's only to be expected that some of those ways might be a bit...unfortunate.

...some, but not all. You're the only one I've met besides Link who really knows anything about music, for one.

It makes me glad to know you can come to me to discuss music, I would gladly answer any questions you may have in regards to it. My specialty may be piano, I have composed music for other instruments.

Oh, you have? I didn't know that. What sorts?

...I've composed a song or two for the piano, but it was a very long time ago.

And I enjoy discussing music with you, Frederic. The only other musical person I know is Link, and he's not too clear on any technical details.

Spanish guitar, cello, flute, violin, harpsichord. And oh have you? I would love to read them. [He only smiles when hearing that.] I do not think I've seen him at my classes all that much, I should give more private lessons.

Good Lord. I've never made it past acoustic guitar and piano. Granted, you are the second person I know to mention Spanish guitar - maybe I'll give it a try, if I ever find one.

I'm...fairly certain Link attends school, although I'm not sure how regularly he does so.

((ooc: I can find links for at least one of the songs, although I'm not sure about the other.))

Well I had commissions to do pieces for entire orchestras on top of those instruments along with writing compositions for piano. I did not like writing many orchestral pieces, but it was money so I took the commissions. So I'm very versatile in different aspects of music, or at least that's what I feel.

[He sighs a little.] I'm starting to lose track of my students with the many so interested in music class.

[ooc: That's okay, Frederic will be happy with listening to at least one of the songs.]

You certainly are versatile, Frederic. There aren't many musicians by my time that are skilled in so many instruments.

Still. I can...certainly understand going outside your comfort zones for the sake of a paycheck.

[He frowns sympathetically.] Music is something most people don't feel confident taking on without a teacher. It's to b expected, really.

Oh I've had help from others, I did not learn all of this on my own. Most of them introduced me to it and I simply took the time to study. But I'm also glad to know you understand things from my perspective.

[A sigh.] Some of my students I feel don't have the passion for music as I do, it's rather disheartening.

I might not have made music a profession, but I did encounter many similar instances, yes.

...part and parcel of teaching at a school, I'm afraid. Students will naturally have subjects they favor and...naturally have subjects they don't.

It doesn't reflect poorly on you, Frederic.

Perhaps I'm not making music enjoyable enough for my students, I'm always so strict and well...myself.
