Art of the Cap: Ryan Lochte x Dave Kinsey

SwimSwam | December 09th, 2013

Art of the Cap brings swimming and creativity together to create positive change in the world. Speedo USA paired five Olympic athletes with five inspiring artists to design limited-edition caps for five worthy causes.

The swimmers shared their stories with the artists who then brought their collaborative vision to life. The results are unique, limited-edition collectables sold exclusively on SpeedoUSA.com. All proceeds will go to the athletes’ chosen causes. The collaborations:

- Ryan Lochte and Dave Kinsey to benefit Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD)
- Natalie Coughlin and Adhemas Batista to benefit Right to Play
- Cullen Jones and Jolby & Friends to benefit USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash initiative
- Dana Vollmer and Jessica Hische to benefit Simon’s Fund
- Nathan Adrian and Gianmarco Magnani to benefit Kids Beating Cancer

Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and artist Dave Kinsey teamed up to design a limited-edition swim cap for Speedo USA's Art of the Cap. All proceeds from the cap go toward Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) an organization that's committed to curing Duchenne, a lethal form of muscular dystrophy. Every cap sold will raise awareness, raise money, and make a difference.

11-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte and Dave Kinsey, a world-renowned artist known for his emotionally charged, multi-layered paintings and murals, created a cap with a bold, fashion-driven argyle design in Lochte’s signature shade of green to reflect Lochte’s interest in fashion and the strong colors that inspire him.

Lochte is supporting Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), a non-profit organization that seeks to end Duchenne, a form of muscular dystrophy that took the life of one of Lochte’s close relatives. Lochte has been working with PPMD for more than five years and proceeds from his limited edition cap will benefit the organization.

“We’re incredibly excited about the Art of the Cap campaign,” said Alyssa Igawa, Marketing Director for Speedo USA. “It is a first for the brand and our athletes, and it has been a true partnership every step of the way.”
