The 13th annual Port Orange Family Days kicked off this Thursday and will continue through the weekend.
"It's our marquee event," Susan Lovallo, director for the Port Orange Parks and Recreation Department told The News-Journal. "It brings our community together once a year and involves everyone in the family from your pet to your grandmother."
This year, the festival will feature some exciting events including a special guest at the annual parade at 9 a.m. Saturday, Port Orange native and Olympic gold medalist, Ryan Lochte.
Family Days also will feature a screening of "Shrek the Third" tonight at 8 p.m., a community expo from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and live music throughout the weekend with bands such as Livingston Road, Five O'Clock Charley and the Timmy Rivers Band.
The carnival, with rides, food vendors and games, will be from 5 to 11 p.m. today as well as 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
All events will be held at Port Orange City Center, 1000 City Center Circle. For more information or a detailed list of events, call 386-506-5935 or visit familydays.com.
