Here I am!

Been busy lately! Anyways, here's a recap...

The weekend of the 23rd, that Friday night, Jon and I headed over to Tom & Elyse's so that I could go to her Uppercase Living Party. Jon went to go keep Tom company while the girls all talked and did "girly" things. It was pretty fun! They had a ton of vinyl decals you can put on the walls, windows, mirrors, pretty much anywhere, it was very cute stuff!! I ended up going with a silver vinyl wine sign that says "wine is bottled poetry" which Elyse very nicely bought for me for my belated Christmas gift. She made a ton of really great appetizers and it was nice to get to talk with the girls for the evening. Jon and Tom pretty much spent their time upstairs in the "man cave" playing darts, drinking beer and playing video games. After the majority of people left, we rejoined and hung out for a bit and got to catch up on life since we hadn't seen them since Thanksgiving, yeesh!

Saturday, the 24th, we pretty much had a mellow day. We both exercised and then in the evening, we decided to go try and check out the new restaurant, Barley House, in Algonquin down Randall Road. Supposidly, they have 220 different beers there! Well, since the place just opened less than a month ago, the place was PACKED, so we opted not to wait the 30 minutes for a seat and to go next door to Doublejacks. We got some beers and Jon made a fast friend sitting next to him. Some guy who was talking about his trip to Ireland and even drove home to go get his pictures to show him, hah! It was pretty amusing. After that, we decided to go visit Deidra at the Outpost. We were the only ones there with the exception of one guy, so it was nice to be in a very low key atmosphere. To be honest, I don't really remember what we did at all on Sunday, probably just lounge around... who knows!

Last week was pretty busy at work, so, with the exception of Tuesday night, we didn't do anything during the week. Tuesday night we went out with Lora & Adam to the OP, it was a good time as always. When Friday came around, Jon and I decided to go out to dinner together since we couldn't remember the last time it was just us! We picked a restaurant called 1776 in Crystal Lake. We had wanted to try this place for awhile since we found out they serve "different" kinds of food such as wild game. The restaurant ended up being excellent! Jon got the ostrich, wild boar and elk platter and I got the veggie platter. Delicious!! Afterwards, we decided to go to Duke O'Briens in Downtown Crystal Lake and get some good beers. I got 3 different beers, The Hairy Eyeball, Gumballhead and Obamagang (by the Ommegang brewery). It was nice to be able to indulge in some good beers after a very busy work and after working hard all week to exercise.

Saturday afternoon I met up with my mom & sister in Burr Ridge at the Cooper's Hawk Winery for lunch. It was a really nice restaurant and I especially loved the wine store! I ended up taking home a bottle of Pinot Gris and a bottle of Syrah. I was tempted to buy a ton of wine paraphanelia from the store, but resisted so that I could afford to go grocery shopping :) When I got home, I was hard at work making appetizers for Lora's party and for Superbowl. Around 7ish, Elyse and Tom, Tori & Nate met up with us so that the girls could go to Lora's purse and jewelry party and the boys could have a boy's night. I ended up getting a really cute black "coach" purse and a matching wallet. Sweet!! Afterwards, in which seemed to be more difficult that it needed to be, we finally managed to meet the guys at the outpost after a pretty comical ordeal. Good times, good times. We stayed for a bit and then Tom and Elyse came back to our place and we played our family feud DVD which was histerical.

Sunday afternoon we went with Lora & Adam to the Burnidge Forest Preserve to go on a winter hike and to take their black labrador, Cody, on a walk. Jon got some really great pictures and the hour walk proved to be quite a workout!! Afterwards, we went home to take a breather for a bit and then met up with Lora, Adam, Shannon and their parents at the OP for superbowl. It was actually a really good time this year! Joey had all kinds of free food set out, we played dice, got some drinks, got some awesome half time prizes and enjoyed ourselves all around. We left after the 3rd quarter and used the rest of the night to relax.

Monday Jon and I were feeling like crap, probably from the 3 days of no rest and going out. I stayed home from work to recoop, but I still feel like i'm coming down with a cold.

This weekend I'm going on a "Girl's Fun Day" on Saturday with Elyse, Cara & Jody. It's Tom's xmas present to Elyse to take us to paint ceramics, get massages, make us dinner, and then take us out for drinks. Sounds good to me!

We're opting to make no plans for Friday & Sunday so that we can have some time to relax. I want to go see that new movie Coraline on Friday! It looks awesome!

Hope everyone's having a great week!
