O__O they. were. amazing.
OKay first of all, we got there about 2 hours early, which was cool, since I had to do the friggin will call tickets and I didn't wanna be waiting in 2 lines and then end up in the back for the show. So I hadn't been to UIC before, and I was walking around looking for the box office, and Gina and Yana waited in the line so we'd be closer to the front. Well, as I was looking and wandering, I walked right past Sonny Moore. Literally. He was with a couple of security people, and they were walking towards me and to my right, so we passed and if I had wanted to, I could have just reached out and grabbed him. It was pretty awesome.
Then I get the tickets and we stand in line and get our wristbands and everything. LaLaLa. The FOB Merch truck was right in front of us for the most of the time we were in line, so I was fighting the urge to raid it... :P So they start letting people in (on time, which is rare in my experience) and we're all getting frisked and the woman frisking me is like "what's that?" in my back pocket, and I'm like... "it's a Sharpie?" and she barked at me "NO MARKERS!" So she took my damn Sharpie. I was about to hit her, but I figured getting kicked out before I even get inside... not cool. So I just mumbled something about the sharpie stealing whore and kept walking.
So we get inside, and I only have four rows of people standing between me and the barrier, which was nice. We were kinda off to the left and it was okay at first. So onto the actual performances.
The Hush Sound- I didn't know anything by them really. But they had a really good sound, and the were a fun performance. It was their last night on the tour, so during their second or third song, someone poured a buttload of bright plastic balls, like from the kiddie parks, right onto the stage. I caught about 6 when they were throwing them into the audience and all that, but I gave them away to other people. So yeah, THS was fun.
From First to Last- Mmmkay. First of all, I may be about to sound like a complete and utter idiot. I was under the impression that Alicia Simmons was the bass player for FFTL. That's what it says pretty much EVERYWHERE online and I have read it in a couple of different magazines. So where was she last night? That was a little disappointing. Of course maybe I'm just a gianormous moron and she isn't their bass player at all. Anyways, they completely shredded up there. They had the instrumental volume too high over the vox, so ya could barely even hear Sonny's voice, which sucked, cuz he has a dynamic voice packed inside that tiny body... Oh and just on a girly note, he is much cuter in person. Um yeah it was kinda ridiculous, because all these people around me were totally turned off by the "hardcore" sound and they were so stupid. Like this one girl was saying "I feel like I'm worshipping Satan!" I just wanted to laugh at them all... WHat would these people do if they heard actual hard music? And everyone near me was complaining about them and saying stuff like "God are they done yet?" I mean it wasn't the best performance I've ever heard, but you could hear the talent. And I'm not even really a FFTL fan! They have a great energy. Sonny is just amazing and Matt is really, really good. And hot. But that's besides the point...
Hawthorne Heights- They suck. They will always suck. There is nothing that can be done to change that fact. I do have to say that some of the actual MUSIC was pretty good and well played. But in general every one of their songs sounds the same as the last. His voice makes me want to shove a dagger through my eardrums. And when they started talking about hardcore music and "this one is for the fans who like to mosh" I just laughed. HH is like the opposite of hardcore in every way. They talk about all this dramatic, angsty crap... but they do it in the same tone of voice used to say everything else. All I can think when I hear their songs is, "Do you even mean any of the stuff you just said?" Well, that and, "Didn't you just play the same song three times in a row?" They played entirely too long and made me wanna die, because by this point I had been standing for 5 hours and I was so dehydrated I was getting dizzy. And I was getting humped from behind and that's just not pleasant.
All American Rejects- AWESOME! Just flippin awesome! The best part had to be Chris's drum. It had a huge Chuck Norris on it :) teehee.Okay that's not true... the best part was all the BoyLove. *le sigh* Tyson's voice in prime form, as usual. They played their little hearts out and it was awesome! Sadly they only played for about half an hour, but it was a FOB headlined show, so technically they were just an opening band. I have NEVER seen Yana go that crazy for a band before :) Haha of course, I have only been to 2 other concerts with her... But yeah, they rocked so much, it was crazy.
Fall Out Boy!- Just wow. They played for almost an hour and half I think...They did almost every song I wanted to hear the most. Oh and they did Saturday... and Pete, and the scream. GAH! Oh and I just have to say, that when he's all up on Joe and licks his bass like he's gonna lick Joe... it's friggin hot. Probably hotter than it should be, but oh well. Patrick's voice is even more sensational live... It's crazy how good his voice is. They all performed flawlessly. It was pretty amazing. Haha it was hilarious cuz @ one point, Dirty came out and kinda let himself be thrown from the riser into a table. Yea... That man is way too fond of indirect self-injury :P Pete was great, but that's not surprising. He did the lick, lick salute. I had to mention that, cuz I know Kristy will be *squee* when she hears it :) Oh I should mention that by the time FOB came one, we had moved towards the back of the crowd, cuz I was getting really dizzy from the idiots around me. I had a 6'5 bulky guy standing half in front of me, a 6' skinnier guy standing right next to him in front of me, and a couple of tall guys in front of them, so I couldn't see jack. I just figured, I can't breathe, I'm about to pass out, and I can't even see, so why bother being so close? I mean, I did the 4 or 5 hour KaiserChiefs/Weezer/FooFighters concert, standing the whole time, surrounded by drunk people and rude girls and smokers and huge guys, and I did it all w/o having eaten anything that day, and while I was really tired and my head hurt, I could take it. I mean at least, I could SEE everything really well. But if I can't even see? There's just no point in taking the torture... So yeah we were standing in the back-ish and it still was okay because this way we could see the entire stage and we were spread out far from each other so we could breath and everything... But in May when Yana and I go again, we're totally gonna stay in the front, cuz Pete and Joe come out towards the audience alot, and I wanna be closer for that :) Oh and when they did "Dance, Dance" I seriously thought that the room was going to explode from the energy being directed @ the stage. So in general it was a great night, despite some crappy moments.
Oh and girls... STOP BEING SO DAMN PRISSY! You are @ a CONCERT! Don't act offended when people behind you are screaming. And if you give me a dirty look and hold your ears when I scream, don't act surprised when I call you a twinkie who needs to get the hell outta my way. It's a concert. People scream. That's how it works you whiney brat!center>
Sorry. Had to say it.
