i just don't have much time lately. work has been pretty busy. we are in the middle of a massive transition to a vendor/change in our processes and software/etc. last week was a big step in that, and it led to lots of delays and general headaches. and after sitting at a computer all day, i don't really want to sit in front of one at home to update this.
this past weekend i went to a couple of halloween parties and managed to not get drunk at either one, even though i was on the undefeated flip cup team saturday night. but i still had a lot of fun. i'm liking this not being the lush of the group thing anymore (i haven't been really drunk since my throwing-up-in-multiple-airports weekend) - i end up getting so much done on the weekends and feel refreshed instead of tired on monday.
on saturday, for instance, i got up at 8:45, went to the last farmer's market of the year, picked up breakfast, did laundry, and cleaned the condo - all before the noon kickoff of the abysmal purdue game.
the weekend before ryan and i headed to purdue for the exponent reunion. it was good to see everyone, and i had a ton of fun at the tailgate (we ended up skipping the game and just listening to it on the radio because we couldn't find any student tickets or cheap scalped tickets, which is fine because the game was boring). i didn't have as much fun at the party, mostly because i was tired, suburnt, and still fighting my cold, and partly because it turned into a giant underage frat-style party that kept me from getting to catch up with some of the people i really wanted to see. man i'm old.
but it was really the first time i've been back to purdue where i only had fun part of the time, instead of the entire weekend. it was frustrating, and yet another step in the realizing-i'm-really-a-grown-up-now thing. i always hate that feeling where you know people are slipping away, but there's not much left you can do about it. grr.
annyywaays, this week so far is me trying to convince my apathetic friends (and boyfriend) to GO VOTE next week, dammit! not even because of the many important races we have here in ohio, but because of the ballot issues. there are two smoking related ones. issue 5 would make the entire state smokefree, much like columbus and dublin and a few other places in the state. i don't really care if the whole state is smokefree, as long as where i live is good. however, issue 4, being promoted as "smoke less ohio", would basically make it so smoking is still allowed in, oh, bars, restaurants, etc. it is also being proposed as a constitutional ammendment, whereas the smokefree issue is being proposed as a law.so, if both pass and issue 4 has a greater number of yes votes than the smokefree ballot issue, it would take precedent over issue 5 AND would OVERTURN any local municipalities' current smoking bans. guess who is helping to sponsor this ballot initiative, which is supposedly supposed to help improve the health of ohioans? the damn tobacco companies. i will be one very unhappy girl if i have to start dealing with dry eyes, congestion, itchy throat, and smelly clothes and hair a la college. grrr again.
ok enough ranting. time for lunch - we are having a halloween party today and the managers bought us subway. nice!
