i feel as though i have been ridiculously busy lately, especially at work, which explains the lack of posting. usually by the time i get home i am ready to pass out from all the allergy and sinus meds i am STILL taking because my body HATES the atmosphere in ohio apparently.
anyway, last weekend ryan and i flew to des moines for my uncle's wedding. it was a fantastic time, as it always is when i hang out with that side of the family. the wedding was lovely and very fun. it was great to see such a nice rehearsal dinner/wedding/reception put together on a budget, seeing as how that's what ryan and i will be doing some day. and when i say fun, i mean it. it was a big catholic wedding, after all. the reception was in the church social hall, so they were able to bring their own kegs and cases of wine. there were keg stands and drinking contests and charise drinking somewhere in the vicinity of 2-3 bottles of wine. the dj had all sorts of fun accessories, like glow in the dark jewelry and cowboy hats and feather boas.
the trip home sunday was AWFUL. we had a brunch for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary (and saw a digitized version of their wedding video, which was awesome!), and after eating i started fealing queasy. let's just say i threw up in iowa state's union and in more than one airport bathroom and was not able to keep anything down the whole day. and oh yeah, our flight was delayed, so we had to be rerouted and fly all the way to atlanta in order to get to columbus that night. which, by the way, is my least favorite aiport ever. all in all, i spent 12 hours in airports and airplanes with one of the worst stomach-related hangovers of my life. it would have taken less time to drive. let's not do that one again, dumbass.
i don't think i ever updated about lizzie's visit. her flight was also delayed coming in, so we ended up just opening a couple bottles of wine and snacking and catching up late friday night. saturday was one of those great slow days, with the farmer's market, breakfast, shopping at easton, and a loooooong dinner at the wine bar across the street. followed by an excellent girls night out that involved a hip-hop/rap cover band with some gorgeous shirtless men (pics to come later) at a fun bar downtown. ahhhh. it was out of control, and we then came home to keep ryan company and drank a few MORE bottles of wine. wine + beer + shots + more wine = we all woke up in the morning to an entire couch cushion covered in red wine with no idea how it happened. except ryan's shirt was red as well, so i'll let you make your own conclusions on that.
i also had to go to a wedding shower sunday, and i'm pretty sure i'll never put my friends through that (only my family, hah!). no one wanted to go, and we had to be cute and social after a night of partying and sit and watch presents being opened for an hour. no thanks, i'll just skip straight to the bachelorette party.
i think that's everything ... i'm heading to purdue this afternoon, which of course i'm super excited about. i didn't really get to watch much football last weekend, so i'm going to loooove seeing all the games this weekend (and cheering on texas so i can piss off, oh, basically everyone i know in ohio).
