Hoping to be back after class this evening to post more -- there's been so much on my mind lately, but finding the proper ratio for prioritizing so as to express it here has been a challenge for me.

We are having a parish mission at my parish of employment.  It is off to a very fine start so far.  This morning the priest, Father Enno, spoke about how we have lost our sense of gratitude and giftedness in relation to God and exchanged it for entitlement and self absorption.  He mentioned how there are so many lawsuits every day based on people's conception that they "deserve" and it is "their right" in direct defiance and contrast to the attitude of gratitude we should have for all that God has given us.  After the mission I went to Children's Hospital to take Communion to and visit one of my students who is currently receiving medical care there.

With this on my mind, I can't really think of much that would exemplify Father's homily more succinctly and clearly than the story in the link below.  When our culture and society stopped viewing our children, and, for a woman, the ability to participate in God's miracle of bringing life forth, as a gift, we became desperately lost.  May this child, in spite of the parent's viewpoint towards her, grow in grace and know she is a beloved child of God.
