Eeeep! I totally meant to post this yesterday, but....I forgot. So, anyway, here's my little rambling-podcast-of-non-edited-stream-of-consciousness contribution to Day One of Podfic Awareness Week! (Also, let's consider this the test-run for my new box.net account, since it's got the streaming option. Let me know what you think?)
Podfic: it's an

Oh~, Tape! That makes me all nostalgic. <3 In Germany, there are two series (one with a talking elephant and one with a young witch who also sometimes was at a farm. It makes sense in context. There were crossovers! It was AWESOME!)everyone listened to when they were young. There were bajillions of episodes on tape.
Anyway! Thanks for posting this! I love hearing about people's personal fandom history, it's just really interesting to me.
Fandom is just such a boundary ruiner. Sure, younger self, you're never going to read RPF.
Pod_aware has been really great so far, hasn't it? I'm enjoying the hell out of all these podcasts and tutorials (I finally found a good editing software! That apparently everyone and their mom has been using for forever? <.<'').
You're going to do a podcast for every day then? I'm looking forward to it. <3
Also: yaaay new MCR podfic! *does a little happy dance*
((Oh, I sent you an email earlier, I hope it gets through. *crosses fingers*))

We had all these Disney books-on-tape - the novelizations of movies, and all the Little Golden Books, and a whole bunch of singalong-type stories with bonus Disney medleys.... good times, good times. I actually think we still have a few in the basement, even though we don't actually have a tape-player/stereo anymore.

THIS. THIS IS TRUEFAX. SHAMEFUL, SHAMEFUL TRUEFAX.
Also, hooray for new audio-editing! Does this mean I can look forward to pre-betaing some podfic, someday? *not-subtle hint is not subtle* And, yeah - I'm either going to do a podcast or a podfic each day this week.
(PS - can I make my new pretty into a podfic-ish icon? Because it is very very pretty.... ^___^)

(Yes, of course! Though you should use the version I put up on my journal, I accidentally sent you the wrong one per email. <.<'' )

I can say: I'm listening to an audiobook or a podcast!
I do this all the time! Also, apparently, V has started to notice a pattern of when I'm listening to audiobooks versus when I'm listening to music - when I'm listening to music, I stare vacantly into the distance. When I'm listening to an audiobook, I start "smiling for no reason. It's really creepy!" (direct quote) I'm always like, how can I help it if the story is emotionally intense? And then she usually smacks me on the shoulder and calls me a nerd.
I feel like I have more…tolerance for podfic. “Patience” is a more appropriate word. I’m sometimes more willing to listen to something and let myself experience all of it, than I am when reading it. I kow exactl what you mean. I think part of it is that, as a reader, you can speed up and just skim past stuff in the text ( ... )

But, I did put the ramble o' podficcitude up on megaupload as well. The link's up top, for your downloading pleasure.

Chlorine--no way!
But more relevantly, I was a huge consumer of books on tape in the dark ages, progressing to books on CD then--oh joyous day!--I eventually discovered audible.com.
I, too, made myself computer generated podfics, which I then made into audiobooks on my Mac, and well, the rest is history!

And what lovely history it is, too! Actually, I think I've still got some of the computerized-voice podfics stashed on my external harddrive somewhere. I should go find them, and make sure I actually recorded all the stories in question....

Re: mhalachaiswords, I HAD THE SAME NAME DILEMMA! I wasn't sure if it was swords or 's words and panicked over it for a bit. Then I noticed that on the Audiofic Archive (since some of her fic had already been recorded, she had a tag there) she was just listed as "Mahalachai"), which, now that I think about it, doesn't actually solve the question of whether it's swords or 's words at the end, but to my brain that meant it was 's words. Huh ( ... )
